October 31, 1955

Dear Diary, Today is Halloween. We can't go home because they say it's 'not a holiday'. What is Halloween without trick-or-treating? I want to go home even more than I did last time. But, on the upside, we started our bacteria project in Gifted and Talented. Also, I found a weird inscription on the wall in the GT room. I don't know what it is, they're foreign symbols, but I wrote them down. I can't figure out what they are, but there was a picture next to it, depicting a person holding out their hands, almost like they were casting a spell. I'll write more when I figure out what this is.

Sincerely, Michelle

(Olivia POV)

After a long day at school, I collapse onto the bed in my dorm. We have around two hours of free time before we have to head to dinner. Ashley, Jayden, and I exchanged numbers so we could text before the end of the school day. During our free time, we can leave the campus, although all we can do is walk into town. I text them to see if they want to go to the library. They reply within a few seconds, both agreeing. I grab my bag, lock the door to my dorm room, stuff the key, and my ID into the bag. When we meet up, I find out that we can't leave the campus since it's the first day."Let's check out the school library," Ashley suggests. I nod."That's a good idea," I say."Why not?" Jayden replies, leaning against the wall. We've decided. We'll go to the school library this time. The school library is magnificent; even from the outside. There's a hallway that leads straight through it. Non-fiction is on one side and Fiction is on the other side. Fancy. I think. I walk into the fiction section with Ashley, while Jayden prefers non-fiction. We scour the whole library, but we don't find anything interesting. The librarian notices Ashley and I waiting at the checkout. Something's caught Ashley's eye."What's that?" She asks the librarian. She smiles sweetly, picking up two leather-bound journals. "A student from 1955 wrote these. You can have them.""You mean it?" She exclaims."Yes." She hands Ashley the books gently."I can't wait to find out what these are. Want to go back to the dorms and read them?" She asks."Sure. I'll go tell Jayden.""Guys, look at this!" Jayden exclaims, walking over to us with a thick yearbook."What?""How exactly I don't know, but somehow, everyone in the school in the year 1955 disappeared. They're all marked as deceased by the time the spring came." I lean over the book."Wait, look at these journal entries," Ashley says. "They're dated from 1955." She flips through the pages. "Oh my god." She's flipping through the second one.

"....It's a spellbook."
