(Ashley POV)

The symbols on the page spell out different spells, and the journal described where they were. My hand flies to my mouth and my hand begins to tremble. "Do you think that the school that disappeared that year died because of a spell?"

"Let's take these to the dorms and see what connects." We thank the librarian and hurry out of the library, an unsettling aura clouding the blue skies. What does all of this mean? I think. Just as I'm about to enter the dorm room, rain begins pouring down. The cover of the journal gets soaked. No! I need to get inside! I think, swiping the ID frantically. Olivia sees me and opens the door from the inside.

"T-thanks. I guess the cards are hard to swipe."

"No problem, but are the books okay?"

"I think the journal is a little wet, but it should be fine." We sit down at the table, spreading everything out around us. I open the journal. The pages are fine, but when I flip through the pages, some of the pages are burnt out.

"Pages are missing," I say. I open the spellbook, but all the pages are there. "Strange." My eyes land on a spell called "Adducere Ad Animam-Bring life" I read through it. A reincarnation spell. I think.

"I found something interesting," I say, the others leaning over my shoulders to see what I found.

"A reincarnation spell?" Olivia inquires.

"I think so," I say.

"We need to be sure. Maybe, maybe we can bring those kids back!" Jayden exclaims.

"We should try it out on something else, those are human lives that we're playing with. We should try it on the journal pages."

"Yeah!" I agree, but just then, the others walk in. I give Olivia a look. They shouldn't know. She nods and we gather our stuff. I take the journals and Jayden takes the yearbook. Once we're out of their earshot, Olivia says, "We can talk about this more tomorrow during free time, maybe go on a little scavenger hunt. We need to make sure that this is real." I nod. Then, I walk down the hall, the journals pressed against my chest. When I reach my dorm, I slip inside and lean against the door, sighing. What a strange and exciting thing. I think. I hope I don't end up dead, though.

I lie in bed thinking about the huge secrets in my desk below me and I shudder. It's only the first day, and so much has happened already. I hope that whatever we do is safe, though. I want to live for a while longer, but there's nothing wrong with a little adventure. I fall into a troubled sleep, trying and failing to think about something else. For most of the night, I lay awake. Awake and unsure of what to do.
