"Who is picking you up today Z?" Hazel asks as they finish up the therapy appointment.
"I told the guys I didn't need a ride." Zeppelynn can't help the grin that splits her face.
"Why..?"
"I might have a date of sorts." She shrugs.
"With..?"
"Calum. But do not tell Zac or Zane. I don't want to talk about it until I know how it goes. It could end very badly."
"I hope it doesn't. Good luck. Is he picking you up?"
"He was here to work with Isaac this afternoon, so he's waiting for me." She nods.
"Good luck. Stay safe. Have some fun." Hazel nods, "and call me if you need anything."
"Thanks Haz. I'll see you later." Zeppelynn nods, adjusting her crutches and slowly making her way from the room.
Zeppelynn smiles as she enters the main floor of the clinic, seeing Calum sat on the side looking at his phone. His blonde hair beginning to grow out ever so slightly, a relaxed outfit of sweats and a t-shirt adorning him helping Z relax. Maybe he's not overthinking, being so casually dressed instead of trying to make this more than it needs to be by dressing up.
"Waiting for someone special?" She asks as she stops in front of him.
"Maybe, we'll see how today goes." He smiles up at her, slipping his phone into his pocket as he stands.
"I know I said my treat, but you can drive right? Cuz um," she glances down at the space where her right leg used to be.
"I can drive." He laughs, "come on, I'm not parked too far out." He motions with his head for her to follow, holding open the doors for her to crutch through as they move through the building towards the exit.
"So, did your roommates have anything to say about today's plan?" Calum asks as they cross the parking lot, the warm LA sun beating down on them.
"They don't know I'm with you." Zeppelynn confesses, "they would read way too much into it before there was anything to even overthink about. What about the band, I can only assume they think so highly of me after what I did last year."
Calum shrugs, glancing at her for a moment before answering. "They told me to be careful."
"That's it?"
"They have been properly amused by the way the universe has thrown us at each other. I think they want to see how it all plays out." He chuckles, pulling the passenger door of his Range Rover open for her.
"It really has been shoving us together though. I didn't see you for eight months and then boom, you were everywhere." She laughs, taking the hand he offers her to help her into the car.
"I know. I was there every time. Even the one you didn't know about." He chuckles, taking her crutches to slide into the backseat as she gets situated.
"You saw me before I saw you?" She frowns as he finally climbed behind the wheel.
"Ya, here. In early February. It was probably your first or second therapy session after your surgery. I showed up and Hazel was pushing you in the wheelchair away from me."
"Huh. I thought when Zac picked me up and you ran out was the first."
"Nope. Just the first for you." He shrugs, hesitating with the music a moment before deciding not to play her the song he'd written about her. She had to earn that privilege or wait until the release.
