I stood at the door, staring at the brown wood for a long moment.
Steve and I were going on our first 'official' date tonight. We've hung out a lot since we first voiced our feelings for each other, and we've kissed several times, but we haven't really made it to any of the other milestones.
I was nervous for tonight. Steve and I had never really been out in public with each other yet. We usually just hung out at each other's places. But we couldn't hide inside forever, I suppose.
I raised my hand and knocked on the door hesitantly. I heard some shuffling inside, then the door swung open. Steve was waiting on the other side, wearing a pair of jeans and a grey henley shirt. He had a brown leather jacket over it. I looked down at myself where I was wearing a pair of dark grey ripped jeans with high-tops and a slightly over-sized t-shirt.
We were both dressed pretty casual. Good. I was worried I was under dressed.
He smiled a little at me.
"Hey," he said, reaching out to me.
"Hi," I said slowly as he took my waist and brought me in for a kiss.
We pulled back after a moment and he held up a finger, signalling for a moment.
"I'll be right back," he said, stepping back into his apartment, leaving the door open.
I peered in after him as he went around the corner and went to do something. I pulled my head back out of the doorway as he returned with a single white rose.
"A flower?" I said with a smirk and a cock of my head.
I took the flower and sniffed it as Steve watched me.
"Your first flower," he said. "You'll be getting more."
"What's that supposed to mean?" I said with a smile.
He chuckled and ushered me into the hallway further as he came out and started to lock the door behind him.
"You'll find out. Now, come on," he said as he put his keys back into his pocket. "We've got reservations to get to."

I twirled some pasta around on my fork as I spoke to Steve, him doing the same. I looked up occasionally when someone would pass, worried that they would recognize us.
"You don't have to keep looking up," he said comfortingly. "It's only making us seem suspicious. Besides, I made sure our dinner wasn't anywhere overwhelmingly romantic and posh. It's just your run of the mill Italian restaurant. I mean, come on, there's a kid's birthday party in the other room. If anyone recognizes us, they'll just think we're friends-slash-colleagues that are getting dinner. You can relax, for once."
I sighed a little and nodded with a small smile.
"Yeah, you're right," I said. "Besides, if anyone did see us, they'd probably be too distracted with the fact that we're superheroes to be considered with what we're doing out together."
"Exactly," he said. "Then again, if you really wanted to throw a curve ball we could hold hands across the table? Play footsie? Feed each other?"
I laughed and shook my head, then took another bite of my pasta.
"When this first began I was the one who was ready to straddle and make out with you in front of my father and the rest of the world and you wanted to take it slow. Now you're the one making suggestive comments in public, while I'm worried about being seen. When did this change happen?"
He chuckled a little and shrugged, then took another bite of his pasta. I looked up as a waiter came over and held something towards me. It took me a moment to realize that it was a white rose. I thanked the waiter and smelled it, then set it down.
"Number two?" I said, with a raised eyebrow.
"Yep," he said. "Ready to get a move on? We've got a few more stops to make."
I nodded and wiped my mouth with my napkin.
"Yeah," I said. "I'm ready when you are."
He nodded and left the money for the check on the table. I followed him outside and got onto his bike behind him. I wrapped my arms tightly around his torso as he pulled out into the streets again.

Several hours later, after many stops and flower collections, Steve and I were sitting on a blanket just off the side of a lake. There were many stars in the night sky and trees lined the land around the lake. It was empty, except for us. I was leaning against Steve as we looked at the water.
I watched curiously as Steve reached into the basket he brought out. He pulled out two plates of chocolate cake and a single white rose.
      He handed it to me.
"Your final rose," he said as I took it, our fingers brushing.
I quickly counted over the amount of roses.
"Thirty four roses," I said aloud.
"Do you know what that number is?" he asked quietly.
I thought about it for a moment, before shaking my head.
"It's the number of days since our first kiss," he said. "And the amount of times I've wanted to kiss you again."
I blushed and looked away briefly, until his hand cupped the side of my face and turned me back to him.
"Your eyes are pink," he stated.
      I nodded a little.
"Beautiful," he said, bringing his lips to mine.
I moaned as soon as his lips connected with mine. His lips were as soft and wonderful as could be. His force was just the right amount. And his passion sent me over the edge. Every time he nipped at my bottom lip my knees grew weaker.
"Steve..." I moaned into his lips.
"I made sure no one would be here tonight," he said. "I cleared the place out. And it's hours from any other buildings..."
"What are you saying?" I said.
"I'm saying..." he said as he quickly rolled me onto my back and held himself over me. "We have the place to ourselves."
I watched in absolute captivation as he pulled his shirt off, then mine. He left trails of kisses on my neck and collar.
      "I thought...you said...you wanted to wait...until my father...knew about us..." I moaned.
"I can't wait anymore," he said. "I need you."
I rolled him over again and straddled his waist, placing my hands on his chest as I leaned down and kissed him passionately again.
"I need you too," I said.
I leaned away from his face and began to unbuckle his pants.

A few hours later we lounged on his couch, watching a movie. He was leaning against the side of the couch and I was in between his legs, my back to his chest. Every few minutes I would doze off a little, then as my head fell I jerked awake.
"You can sleep, you know?" he said quietly.
"No, no," I said. "I...wanna catch the end of the movie..."
I couldn't stop myself as my eyes drifted shut again. This time instead of my heading falling forward he pulled me back towards him and I rested my head on his chest.
      "Goodnight, Y/N," he whispered.
      "Goodnight, Steve..."
