I winced slightly as I felt warm light shine against my closed eyelids, fighting to break through. I rolled over, attempting to get away from it, only to feel something cold and wet slide across my face. I cracked open an eye to see two dogs sitting by the side of the bed, their mouths hanging open. One was white and fluffy with two different eyes and a speckled nose, while the other was a mix of browns and blacks with dark eyes.

"Hi, guys," I muttered, still not wanting to wake up. My eyes drifted over again as I heard the thudding of footsteps. I looked towards the end of the bed to see Y/N walking to and fro, half-dressed. I sighed and rolled onto my back, stretching one of my arms above my head. I released a relaxed groan in the process.

"Morning," I heard Y/N say, causing my eyes to slide open again. I looked down to the foot of the bed where he was still getting dressed. He was hurriedly tucking a designer button-up shirt into a pair of shiny, grey dress pants. I smiled a little bit and waved, a yawn escaping my lips.

"What's the hurry?" I said eventually.

"I'm still super busy with damage control from the move," Y/N explained as he went to retrieve a belt from the closet. He came back into the room to put it on so he could face me. "Seems like there's just one crisis after another..."

My eyes wandered down to his hands as he fastened his belt, his mouth still working overtime to explain all the stress in his life. The belt buckle was two shiny gold letters, his first and last initial. After he finished fastening the belt, my eyes drifted down to where the grey pants clung to his legs.

"Are you even listening?" Y/N said after a few minutes while tying a pair of shiny, black Dior shoes. I looked back up to his face, meeting his eyes as I processed his question. I chose to move right past it.

"I told you if moving would be too much we didn't have to do it," I said as I had said a hundred times before. "We could've waited a few years, or done it slowly, or-"

"No, Charlie, listen," he said slowly, sliding onto his side of the bed. He pushed himself closer to where I was laying and took my hand, working his fingers between mine. "I wanted to move. I'm glad we did. I love our home here. I love the city. I'm glad we finally got away. I am."

I sighed slowly, looking up at him as he reassured me. One of his hands had moved to rest on my bare shoulder. He smiled a little, pushed some of my messy morning hair aside, then kissed my forehead briefly.

"I'm gonna complain about work no matter where we live," he said with a light laugh, making my heart flutter. I nodded in understanding and squeezed his hand lightly. He got back off the bed, making his way into the bathroom as I finally pushed myself out of bed.

I sat on the edge of the bed, rubbing circles on my eyes as the dogs wandered about the room. I heard the sink running in the bathroom, where Y/N was getting ready.

"I don't know if you had any plans today," Y/N called from the bathroom, causing me to push myself to my feet. "But Anne from work was supposed to stop over tonight for a brief meeting. We'll need to keep the house clean."

As he spoke, I made my way over to the bathroom doorway, leaning on the frame. Y/N was brushing his teeth inside.

"So, no ragers while you're gone?" I teased.

He gave me a coy look in the mirror, then leaned down to spit in the sink.

"No. No ragers while I'm gone," he confirmed with a smirk. "But the cleaning crew is coming this afternoon, so you either have to stay and get out of their way, or-"
