It took everything I had to keep my nerves from running away with me. I acted casual when I told my friends that Mark was coming not with us and thankfully they didn't think anything of it. They knew that we were good friends and because of his girlfriend they didn't think anything of it.
I tried to be super nonchalant about getting ready even though I was so excited I thought I was going to explode. I picked a short strapless dress that made my legs look even longer and my cleavage even bigger. It was a go big or go home kind of night.
When he showed up at the door, I couldn't help but leap into his arms. He burst out laughing and pretended to drop me.
" so how come you're slumming it with us instead of going to Providence this weekend" I asked when he finally put me back on my feet.
"Well the guys all have a race this weekend and I figured my first weekend as a single man would be better spent with a drink in my hand with a friend than by myself watching Netflix."
My heart instantly jumped into my throat and my stomach flipped at the same time.
" oh- yea we are a much better choice" I responded half choking on my words.
My mind when into overdrive. He was single!
I took his bag up to my room so no one would mess with it and attempted to walk back down to the living room without falling over myself.
The next hour we pregamed before going out. My roommate's boyfriend, Dave, brought over a beer bong and was challenging everyone to chug a beer. We all had a turn along with a ton of Jell-O shots, my friend Anna brought over. It was starting off to be a great night.
After a few party games, we headed over to the party. It was thankfully not a long walk in heels and Mark was a nice distraction while we poked fun at each other the entire walk over. I had missed this closeness with him.
The party was packed when we got there. We all had seen some friends and everyone went their own way for awhile. I was pretty plastered by the time I had found Mark again. Him and my roommate, Alyssa were deep in conversation. As I walked their way, I was interrupted by Ewan, from my education class. He was a little drunker than I was and had no problem wrapping his arms around my waist. I was caught off guard and returned the hug as he pulled me towards the kitchen to get another drink. We got a drink and joined a flip cup game already in progress. After what felt like forever my drunk ass stumbled into the other room looking for my roommates or Mark. None of them were found and I was teetering on a black out and needed to get home before I was sick. I turn towards the kitchen to grab my coat when I ran back into Ewan.
"Whereeee you goin'" he slurred
"Home!" I yelled excitedly.
The thought of my bed felt great to my inebriated brain, having completely forgotten that I desperately wanted to snuggle Mark tonight.
" I'll walk with you. I don't think I can last much longer"
Thankful for the company and not having to worry about creeps, we got bundled up and walked to our complex.
Ewan's apartment was in the first complex.
" are you sure you don't want to come inside?" He asked as he wrapped an arm around my waist.
I giggled, forgetting about my bed and Mark. "Fineeee. Only for a minute. I need to sit down for a second."
He brought us glasses of waters as I snuggled into the couch. As if my body knew I was safe, I started to get dizzy. I sat up and ripped my shoes off. Thinking that if I needed to run to the bathroom it was best that I wasn't wearing heels. I was trying to take some breaths when nausea hit me like a speeding train. I made it to the bathroom just in time.
"this is my new home" I joked as I rested my head over the toilet bowl.
"at least you made it to the toilet. I puked in my bed last weekend" Ewan said as he put a glass of water next to me.
"Ugh that's my nightmare. Remind me never to get in your bed" I laughed
After what seemed like forever, I was able to pull myself out of the toilet.
Ewan was passed out on the couch, so I snuck out and slowly made my way back to my apartment. My bed was seeming like the best thing in the entire world and I collapsed in it instantly before passing out.
The next morning in woke up with a groan and collapsed on my roommates bed. We all congregated in there after a little while trying to piece together our night. It was eventful to say the least. I thankfully wasn't the only one to puke.
"Alyssa had a good night" my roommate Hannah said with a wiggle of her eyebrows.
"OOOOOOOOOHHHHHH!" We all yelled
"Who was it?!" I asked
Alyssa groaned "pleased don't be mad"
" ohh no" I groaned "who?" Thinking it was her horrible ex.
""Mark" she cringed covering her face
I choked on the water I was drinking
"Well that's unexpected" I said after coughing down the water.
"Are you mad?" She asked looking through her fingers
" N-no" I forced out.
She slowly pulled her hands away from her face
"Are you sure?"
" yea I'm fine. I almost hooked up with Ewan last night. That would've been a mistake."
"Oh thank goodness!" She exclaimed "I felt so bad after. If it helps, it was definitely a one time thing."
"No its fine. I have no claim on him."
My heart felt heavy, but it was my fault that I had gotten too drunk to remember.
