Chapter Seven- Aftermath and an Ally

(Y/n)'s POV

"Miss? Are you awake?"

I am now.

"Careful, you need to rest." The nurse offers a soft glare at the movement and returns her attention to the clipboard in front of her. Slowly, I sit up and take in the whirr of the machines and the soft chirping of the monitors.

"Why am I here? I'm fine."

My feet barely touch the ground before the nurse starts to usher me back into the confines of the bed. 

"Miss, your quirk seems to be enhancing the healing process but you need to give it time."

"What day is it and when can I leave?"

"Thursday and in an hour. Now, I have some questions about your medical history–"

The door slams open, ratting the machinery and scaring the poor nurse half to death. In the doorway stood a pink, glowing ray of sunshine. Her smile is bright... too bright.

"I'm healing."

The nurse raises a brow, looking at Mina as though she was her brand, new revelation to the situation. Her smirk is almost sinister as she turns back to me with that condemning clipboard. "I'll let you have a moment with your friends before we wrap up!"

Oh, that little–

The door clicks behind her and I'm alone with peppy pinky.

"I WAS SO WORRIED. ARE YOU OKAY?" She practically yells, moving towards the bed and inspecting every fading scratch and dissipating bruise.

It's bizarre, really. That human instinct to care. It controls you with pain and traps you with moments of happiness.

Utterly useless.

"Is it alright if I hug you?" 

The fuck is a hug? 

 "Uh. No," I deadpan, feeling a pang of guilt when she nods sadly. Sighing, I meet her eyes. "Why?"

"Because it just seems like you could use one. I'm just happy you're okay," she says with a smile. "Don't worry, Bakugou and Midoriya are fine! All Might came just in time." She jumps up a bit and that burning, bright light returns as she beams.

All Might was the entire reason why the class was attacked in the first place.

But... if it brings her joy then sure.

"I'm glad too."

"What?" She asks, turning to me with a curious expression. Why is she making me say it again? Biting back a dry response, I will a small smile to match her beam.

"I'm glad you're okay."

And it was true.

That's what unnerved me the most, as I reflected on those sappy words.

An acquaintance.

"AW Y/N! THAT'S SO SWEET!" She jumps up a bit, looking as though I just told her that she won a billion dollars. "Is it okay if some of our classmates come to visit too? They were worried as well."

Oh.

I smile again. That faked, perfected smile.

No.

"Sure."

Mina nods again and disappears behind the door, only to return within seconds with Kirishima, Iida, Sero, Uraraka, and the frog girl.
