Timeskip: one week
Your Pov
'Alright today's the day!' I thought. Lucky Kakashi agreed to take guard duty during the night watch (11:00 p.m.). Though to be honest, The Third was a little sceptical about why Kakashi wanted to join guard duty but, ended up giving him the ok. But, unfortunately, another Anbu member caught wind of what we were up to and asked me to join in.
Now I'm not going to name names but (cough) luma (cough). So I ended up having to let her join in on "Action" and "Epic Adventure" She was talking about. To be honest I don't know why she was so "hyped up", what concerns me the most is that she is going to say something to the wrong person and get us caught.
I then walk over into my room and grab headsets and and necessary supplies for the mission. I then look over at the clock and see that it's 5:00 p.m. 'Geez, why is this day going so slow! I still have 6 hours to go!' I mentally cried.
I get pulled out of my thoughts by someone knocking on the door. I walk to my door and look through the peephole. (a/n: Yeah, I had to look this up.)
I see Niko and sigh. I open my door and motion her to come in. "Your a little early Niko, what's up?" I asked
"Captain, we need to talk." She sighed
"I'm guessing this is about Luma?" I asked while walking into the kitchen and pulling out a kettle.
"Yeah, we can't trust her." She said
"Look, I know you're worried but, everything will be fine. She's going to be on guard duty with Kakashi. So you don't have to worry." I said filling the kettle with water and placed it on the stove.
"Yeah, I know. It's just..." she paused and I looked over at her and put my hand my hip.
"Just what?" I asked in a calm voice trying to figure out what she was getting at
"Just, Something is wrong with that girl, she's just too, I don't know. I feel like she's going to betray us or something." She said and I dropped my arm
" Niko, do you have any backing to your concerns?" I asked
"Maybe..." She said hesitantly and I looked at her and titled my head slightly.
"Niko, you can tell me." I said
"R-right, I have been tracking her movements recently and right after the morning patrol and tasks, she goes missing." She said
"I'm guessing she probably went home, she usually comes back on time for the afternoon report." I say backing up Luma
"But, that's just it. she doesn't go home." Niko said
"Did she go to the training grounds?" I said
"No. Everytime I try and follow her she just disappears." Niko said rubbing the side of her face
Before I have time to think, the Kettle goes off, I turn off the stove, and walk over to the cabinets, grabbing two mugs. I poured the hot water into each cup and grab two teabags, placing them into the cups, and then set a timer for five minutes.
"How long has this been occuring?" I ask and Niko hesitantly begins to talk.
"It started two weeks after Luma joined the Anbu." She said and I paused
"Niko, why didn't you tell me sooner?" I said trying to stay calm
"I would have but, you always told be to gather evidence before you make a claim. So, I decided to keep track of her movements privately." She said and I sighed.
The timer went of and I turned it off and handed her a the cup of tea.
"Well, we have a couple hours before the mission starts, why don't we just hang out and eat something?" I asked changing the topic and she happily nodded.
Timeskip 10:50 p.m.
I gave the earpieces to Kakashi, Luma, and Niko, setting them to the same frequency. We all nodded. Kakashi and Luma put there masks on and walked off. I looked over at Niko and placed my hand on her shoulder and said,
"Everything will be fine."
"Promise?" she said and I nod
'Man, I'm getting some major deja vu.' I thought. I checked my watch and noticed the time and waited for Team Neon (which was Luma's idea and Kakashi hated the idea) , to give the signal.
Once they gave the signal Team Dragon (Niko decided the name and Kakashi complained "why do you guys get the cool name?" which ended up ticking off Luma), began the mission.
Niko activated her Byakugan and scanned the surrounding area and inside the vault. She gave me the okay to start. We dashed over to the wall and began to climb. Once we got to the top we broke in.
"Hey did you get in?" Luma said and I heard a shushing noise in the distance
'Maybe, It was a bad idea bringing her along' I mentally sighed
I quickly looked through the vault and saw the scroll behind a case. Niko nodded and walked over and began to unlock the case.
"Hey Niko do you sense something?" I asked now placing my hand by my kunai.
I then heard a click noise and the case was lifted. I slowly walked over and grabbed the scroll.
As I placed my hand on the scroll it vanished and something was injected into my right arm. I then bent over in pain holding my right arm. My mic must have been on because Kakashi then spoke.
"Y/n, what happened are you alright?" He said worried
"GAAH!" was all that came out of my mouth
"Y/n!" Kakashi said
"Kakashi-san, There was something wrong with the scroll and-" Niko started but, the feed was cut off.
I then heard the same rasps voice that I heard in the forest.
"haha, well, didn't I say that we would meet again Y/n-sama" a dark shadowy figure said
Niko then jumped out in front of me and reactivated her Byakugan. "Stay back." she said but, the voice only laughed harder.
"Well, Niko Hyuga, I mean no harm, I just need a little chat with your Captain."
"W-who a-are you." I said out of breath due to the mass amount of pain running up and down my arm.
"Hmm, you still haven't guessed? I'm not sure whether to be hurt?" The male voice said now walking out of the darkness.
"Orochimaru!" Niko shouted
"Well, it seems her friend here nows." He pauses and looks down at my arm
"My, My, doesn't that look painful. I can help you ease the pain." He said walking over towards me but Niko stops him.
"Hmm, well, it seems i'm going to be interrupted again! I look forward to talking with you soon Y/n-sama." He said disappearing into the darkness.
I then began to feel all of my chakra disappearing and I began to fade into darkness.
"Y/n!" I heard I mumbled voice
"Y/n! St..y......w....ke" I voice said and then I blacked out.
