The truth was that Ruben Efrain was not just a cover of a magazine, but also the one that feasted on a woman's weakest organ, her heart. And the moral of the story is that lions don't feast on a already hunted prey, and my heart was already hunted and feasted upon.

The gladiator like building came in view as the vehicle parked in front of my apartment building.

"Good night Ms.Rossi," Gavrill bids as I collect my belongings from the nearby back leather seat.

"Good night Gavrill," I wish back with a gentle smile coating my lips. He was a loyal man, and had always been ever since he had started working for my dad. But, Gavrill's quietness came out of a respectful way as he knew overstepping his duties would only overwhelm who he is supposed to be protecting.

I approached the elevators in my usual quite manner, but a weird sensation set in the pit of my stomach as the usual warm hallway felt oddly cold. Glancing around I confirmed that I was the only one in the hallway along with the guard standing near the entry way.

Deciding on a glass wine to end the night, I got into the elevator and pressed the button for the top floor of the building. My phone buzzed in my grasp, notifying me of an upcoming call. Bringing the screen up, I was confused to see a unknown caller ID. Deciding on not to take the call, I stepped out of the elevator as the metal doors propped open.

It didn't take long for me to open my apartment and drop my belongings on the entry way table before heading towards my bedroom. The weary sensation continued to overwhelm all of my other emotions, but thinking less of them I continued to head towards the closet. Depositing my work clothes in the hamper, I settled into more comfortable nightwear before deciding on making a light dinner.

The sunlight barely peeked from the top of the tall buildings as my alarm rang. With drowsy eyes, I clicked the off button of the alarm before peeling the sheets off of myself.

It didn't take me long to shower and get dressed into a deep emerald pencil skirt and a creme silk blouse. I pinned my somewhat curly hair to the back of my head in a loose bun while the loose strands ran free down the sides of my cheek.

I quickly grabbed my creme heels and made sure to grab the accounting's file that I was to show him today. As I thought about Ruben I was instantly greeted with the brief memory of his touch on my cheek. How he felt so warm at one time and the cold the very next.

He slipped out of someone's grasp so easily that it almost tricked the person into thinking he was just a part of their imagination. A hallucination crafted so smoothly that anyone would happily believe it was the truth that was meant to be believed in the first place.

Putting my thoughts aside, I grabbed the cup of coffee I had brewed and examined the contexts of the file briefly before closing the cover. The apartment door bell ringed, notifying me of an unknown guest. Glancing the clock that read, 7 am I placed the coffee on the table. Confused on who it can be this early in the morning, I paused in front of the apartment door before bending over to peek in the hole.

Weirdly, no one was on the other side of the door. I opened the door slightly in a quite manner and was greeted with a boxed package. I hesitantly picked the box up to see my name printed on the label. The phone on my table buzzed against the coffee table as I made my way back inside the apartment.

I placed the package on the entry way table before making my way to my phone buzzing on the wooden surface. The caller ID read unknown number once again and with a heavy heart I decided to pick up the call.

"Hello." I answered as I waited for the person on the other side of the phone to answer.

"She's coming." A heavy voice reeked from the other side of the phone making chills rise on my skin.

"Who is this?" I asked with a shaky voice, and then the line on the other side died with a monotone beep. With my phone in my hands, I dialed Gavrill's number.

"Yes, Ms.Rossi? Is everything okay?" He asked in his usual composed manner.

"Would you mind coming up please?" The doorbell rang once again and my eyes followed the sound.

"Stay there Ms.Rossi, I'm coming up." He said this time with all seriousness.
