I was introduced with a new shade of grey that was heavily corrupted with liquid green almost as if it was ready to squirt venom into the one it was eyeing on. His eyes matched the same color family as the liquid steel color that was occupied by my now boss.

"I'm sorry, I don't seem to recognize you." I breathed out as he analyzed me from my perfectly manicured nails to the straightened strands of my obsidian black hair which was brushed out smooth.

"You must be Ruben's new assistant." It was weird, but the man in front me seemed to have his way of getting under anyone's skin with simple phrases of introduction, but burying the resurfacing nerves I gave him a polite smile as a treaty of negotiation.

"Yes, that would be correct." I answered as he hummed and then eyed the file now sitting cold on my desk.

"I'm here to inform you that Ruben is currently sitting in a meeting with the directors and may not be in the office at all, so hoping he didn't make a inaccurate choice of assistance, I would like you to collect the file for finances from his desk and chart it by the end of the day."

I merely nodded, not knowing how else to equip to his remark of me not being worthy of the position i had waited to earn.

"And Ms.Rossi, leave the file back on his desk once completed. He hates people that mess with stuff that wasn't theirs to play with in the first place." Before I could answer to him, he turned around and left the cabin in silence. I sighed in disappointment of not being able to retort his statement, but quickly planted the thought to the furthest corner of my schedule.

I raked my fingers on the ends of the creme fabric to avoid it from wrinkling. Leaving the already opened file, I made my way over to the cabin labeled Ruben Efrain in thick fancy lettering. I propped open the auburn door, to indeed reveal an empty office. Even with no one occupying the space, it felt as if I was breaching his privacy. It was as if he was looking at me like the hunter he was, waiting for me to make one wrong move so he can pounce on his prey. The hint of his cologne was mixed in the air conditioned air of the cabin.

His cologne reminded of the liquor you would pay heavy money for and yet keep it on showcase on your trophy cabinet, knowing you don't deserve to swell in such luxury of life because it was already costly enough to possess its very being.

The gloomy weather only intimidated the authority in the room further as if the man himself was still present in the space.

My gaze fell upon the file sitting next to the straightened layout of the desk. The wooden desk was dusted spotless, but it wasn't a surprise knowing the whole cabin was merely an image of perfection. Anything less then perfection would only infuriate the man, as he was used to settling down for nothing more than perfection.

Slipping the file off of his desk, I made sure not to pry any longer than was needed. Exiting the cabin, I made my way down the hallway to my now appointed office.

I gathered my belongings off the desk and placed them in a corner wooden table which acted as a small coffee area. Well organized, I logged into the server of the desk top computer equipped into the cabin for further use. I was instantly greeted with the logo of the company along with the name Efrain.

I gathered my hair into a loose bun and busied myself into the task that was needed to be completed by the end of the day.

As I finished the last proportions provided in the file, satisfied with the now completed analysis of the finances of the company, I gathered the contents in the leather folder and decided to place it back to its original place being the office it was grabbed from. The clock on the primitive white walls read 6:09 pm and I knew it was over my working hours.

With the echo of my heel, I made my way out of my own cabin to the one I had grabbed the file so carefully.

My face furrowed in confusion as I noticed the lighting of the office being lit along with the wooden slab of privacy shut tight. Predicting the custodian was merely finishing off his or her job of reorganizing his office, I opened the room. It was empty.

I didn't know whether to sigh in relief or further investigate the reason of the initiation of the light. Knowing the room was very well empty, I made my way over to the surface of his desk where the leather file was originally sitting.

Placing the file back onto its place, I turned around to exit the room, but was instantly greeted with the liquid steel gaze that I swear had me on the edge of questioning my very existence each time. He was here.
