And just like that it seemed that the little chemistry we shared together disappeared into the thin walls of the office. He stepped away as if he realized the words that had come out of his mouth. He had remembered, I was just not his to boss around.
"You can leave Ms.Rossi, I don't have time to interact with your personal life and relationships," He said while walking to the bar in the corner that had managed to be left untouched until last night and today.
"It wasn't my intention to upset you with my late arrival Mr.Efrain." I added, hoping it would be enough for him to at least look back at me.
"The discussion is over Ms.Rossi, you may get to work unless you have no intention of working today." He was pissed. But, I didn't have the time or the energy to give back to him. Not when I was already walking on a fine line of mental and physical conflicts.
"Sorry to waste your time Mr.Efrain, I'll be out of your way." He didn't respond as he poured himself a generous glass of whisky that was for sure too strong of a drink to be appropriate in the morning.
I quickly noted to grab a cup of coffee for him before he drowns himself in the hefty collection of alcohol propped in the end of the office.
The conversation I wanted to have with him seemed to be put aside for another time, but I had to make sure I had it because if the department below really was ignoring the fact they had none of the proper files organized then it was time for that to change.
A company as big as the Efrains didn't seem to let go of even the slightest details, it was a mere absolute shock when I had to go through the numerous transactions of the company's profits to find out that it was anything but scandalous and suspicious activity.
I headed towards the coffee room on the floor to grab the cup of coffee that he seemed so desperately in need of. When I opened the room, it was empty just as I imagined it to be, but I was glad to see it held the pleasing scent of cupcakes and warm fresh brewed coffee which indeed was sitting in a kettle along with the cakes.
I made my way over to the mugs and grabbed one before walking over to the kettle and filling the mug with a generous amount of the warm coffee. Eyeing the cupcakes and danish puffs, I quickly grabbed a cupcake while smiling as I found the thought amusing of how someone as intimidating as Ruben would look while eating a cupcake.
The thought continued to warm me as I remembered the cupcakes my mother would spoil me with every time I had a bad day. They were certainly the highlight of my bad days, the ones I seemed to have too many of these days.
I sighed before grabbing the mug full of coffee and the light pink cupcake and headed back towards his office. This was such a bad idea, the man would think I have lost it if not gone crazy as I saw him a few minutes ago, he was sipping whisky from his fine collection.
Once again I reached in front of the wooden door and unknowingly I didn't bother knocking. The office was dimmed to a lower lighting mode and the sun blanketing the Manhattan sky seemed to be the only thing that kept the massive office lit.
He was in front of the glass wall window that showed off the beautiful skyscraping beauties the company competed against. Unlike my first time I had come in his office, today it seemed weirdly more warm and comforting.
Either Ruben was too invested in the view in front of him or he simply did not want to acknowledge me, I was fine with either of the options.
I quietly walked up to his polished desk and placed the mug along with the cupcake on top of the surface. The glass of whisky was still sitting in his hand, but barely a sip of liquid remained in the glass from what was initially poured in.
"You aren't really good at following orders, are you?" I flinched as he proposed the question to me.
"I'm sorry, I just-" I wasn't able to finish my sentence as he turned around from looking at the view to looking at me again.
"You just what Ms.Rossi?" I didn't answer as I shook my head and turned to leave to the comfort of my cabin. My feelings were way too complicated and right now the worst I could do was intensify them even more than they were.
I walked away from his desk where the now coffee and cupcake sat and headed towards the exit of the door.
"You haven't answered my question and yet you want to run away." I stopped midway and took a deep breath.
"I just thought a more appropriate drink for you to start the morning would be coffee, I didn't mean to disturb you."
"You don't have to keep on running away like that from me Ms.Rossi," He said as I turned around to find him placing the glass of whisky down on the counter of the bar.
"Like what?" I asked, almost breathless.
"Like I am going to f*ck you."

I know, I know! I suck at this updating thing and I am not going to go on and deny it, but believe me I am so busy with school and with my track practices that I barely have any time. I have piano lessons on the weekends which are followed by my having a mental breakdown in the evening, but I love you all!
