Chapter 16

Anna's POV
Maggie, Haley and I arrived at my apartment so that I could get a few things. "This is a nice place." Maggie said. "Thanks." I said as I went to my room to start packing a bag. I was packing some clothes and books and stuff, I was moving so frantically that I bumped into my bedside night stand and knocked over a picture frame, I go to pick it up and I realize it's a picture of Mom, Noah and me at mom's birthday party. "Everything ok in here?" Haley asked as her and Maggie came running in. "Yeah I just knocked over a picture." I said as I sat it back on the nightstand and continue packing my bag. They both came in and tried there best to make me feel better. "The three of you look very close and happy." Maggie said looking at the photo. "Yeah we are." I said with a sad expression. "Listen I know this can't be easy but this is the best thing for you." Haley said. "I know that but I've always been the type of person that fixes my own problems and fights my own battles so it feels weird that I need someone to watch out for me 24/7 and it feels like I'm running away from my problems somehow or that I can't fight my own battles." I said. "You're not running away, you are strategically retreating." Maggie said placing her hands on my shoulders in a comforting way. "And even the best fighters need help every once in a while, it doesn't make you less of who you are to ask for help every once in awhile." Hailey said. I knew that they were right but I couldn't shake the feeling that hiding me wouldn't help anything. "You two remind me a lot of my mom." I said. "I'm going to take that as a complement." Haley said as we all laughed a bit. I finished packing and we headed to the safe house. To be honest I had no idea how safe I would feel until I knew this guy was caught. (When this is over with I'm going back to New York for a couple of days)

Voight's POV
Upton, Benson and Agent Bell left not to long ago and we are still chasing our tails. "Any luck on where this guy might be or have been?" I asked. "No leads on where he is or might be going, But I think that Burgess and I might know where he was." Atwater said putting something on the board. "Now we ran this guy's picture through every single type of facial recognition we could get our hands on and we got a potential hit on someone exiting the train station about half an hour ago." Burgess said. "He was last seen ducking into one of those internet cafes and hasn't been spotted leaving yet." Atwater said. "All right then looks like we have a lead Zidan you and Atwater go check it out." I said. The two of them left to chase the lead while we continued to try and predict this dude's next move. "I mean I don't get it why escape and come after her now he had all that time while she was still in New York why now." I overheard Ruzek say. "Yeah but as far as he knew and she was in New York she was a comatose child of a cop you have to be pretty stupid to try something there." Halsted said. "I agree but she's been in Chicago for a while now and I'm pretty sure that it was advertised over the news when she was out of her coma so I agree with Ruzek why here, why now?" I said. "Maybe if we can figure that out we can figure out where he's going." Burgess said. With that said everyone started digging up everything they could on this creep from both before and during his incarceration and escape.
