A trip to New York City for work-related business meant flying to the east coast for the week. Fortunately, your job paid for both your round-trip plane ticket and the classy hotel. Dinner and dry cleaning was complimentary, and you felt like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman.

However, even with all the razzle-dazzle upsides of working for a wealthy and successful company, there were still always aspects of work that stressed you out to the point of exhaustion.

Like today, for example. Today was the head meeting for a very important meeting regarding a deal with another very successful business. But, of course, your asshole of a supervisor had to dismiss you from the meeting after deciding your ideas didn't fit the ideal layout of the deal. Considering you were the main person on the job, you were pretty pissed off, and made a point of telling him that you couldn't leave the room. It didn't end well, that was for sure — quite the contrary, to be real. You'd tried to be civilized, but it ended in an argument about what was best for both companies, which ended in a blow out, cutting the deal and all future profits with them.

You were still pissed off, having been recently promoted only three months ago. Michael was basically your closest co-worker, but he was also the most arrogant and disrespectful one. By the time the meeting ended, his coffee had stained both your blouse and your documents.

Now, you're rushing through the lobby of the classy hotel, salty tears staining your cheeks. You wanted the blouse off, which was part of the reason you were moving so quickly.

You felt icky, underdressed, and embarrassed. Your blouse was starting to cling to you in the most obnoxious way, and the high heels under your feet rubbed an ache in your heel.

You suck in a breath, hyperventilating. You maneuver around a man and his suitcase, making for speed as the elevators come into your view. You see a single man step through the sliding doors, and you pick up your pace.

"Hold the door, please!" You stick your hand out bashfully, head down as you breathe out a sigh of relief. He'd kept it down for you, and you were grateful. You would've said "thank you" had you not just been crying, and had the tears not been on your face.

"Everything alright?" His thick British accent takes you by surprise. You don't know why you're surprised in such a diverse city, especially since you know him, and that he's British. Suddenly, you realize you have to answer, and you swallow thickly while he clears his throat awkwardly.

"Yeah." Your voice is a whisper, and as he asks for your floor number, you realize the elevator hasn't actually started moving yet. You want to bang your head into the mirrors of the elevator — for making your encounter with the first cute boy you've seen, awkward as hell. Not only that, but you're making this encounter with your favorite superhero, awkward as fuck.

The button for your floor number lights up as he clicks it, and you notice a chunky ring locked around his index finger. You suck in a breath, and just as he's about to say something else, the elevator shakes a bit before coming to a wobbly stop, in between floors.

You groan in realization, and the cute brunette standing beside you connects the dots as well.

"Guess we're stuck in here." He speaks nonchalantly as his finger hits the emergency button. You don't know why you're expecting sirens and flashing lights to go off as his finger connects with the button, but you do, despite nothing happening — not even an alarm to let the two of you know that someone is on the way.
