Your POV
As the sun rose, I did one final sweep of the area with my HCA to be good. Then I went back into the cave. I gently shook Winter's shoulder to wake her up and said, "Come on, it's morning. We should probably get going." She nodded and started to stand up. I helped her up and said, "Think you can walk on your own, or would you like my help?" She smiled and said, "I think I can walk on my own, but thanks for asking." I smiled and said, "No problem." I grabbed my jacket, shirt, and cape and put them on. Then Winter and I made our way out of the cave. Due to her condition, we had to pause a couple of times so she could rest. At one point, she said, "Y/N, I think my bandages came loose." I nodded and tended to it. As I did, I noticed that her wound had slightly opened up, probably due to us being on the move. I took off my shirt and used it to absorb some of Winter's blood while I redid the bandages. After I finished, I let her rest for a couple minutes before we continued to walk. I had kept my HCA activated to keep an eye out for threats and to let me know when we were within range of a CCT Tower. After about 2 hours, I finally got a low range signal. So we walked for a few more minutes to get a better signal. Then I called the General.
Ironwood's POV
I was pacing in my office nervously. It's been 4 days since Specialist Schnee and Phoenix left for their mission, I thought to myself. And I've not heard anything from either of them. This is somewhat unlike Phoenix, but it is most definitely unlike Schnee to not report back. Then my Scroll rang. I saw it was Y/N calling, so I answered it and said, "Thank goodness you're okay. Where's Winter?" He replied, "Our mission was based on false intel that led us into a trap. We managed to escape after killing the gang members alomg with Cedric. But Winter was injured in the process and we were very far out of range of any CCT Towers. I carried her to shelter and tended to her wounds. We were finally able to leave the cave since her wounds had healed enough for us to move. But we need a Medical Evac ASAP." I nodded and said, "Thanks, Phoenix. I just sent a Medical Evac ship to your location. Thanks for keeping her safe." He nodded and hung up.
Your POV
After I hung up, I turned to Winter and said, "A Medical Evac ship is on its way to us." She smiled as she sat down on a log and said, "Thanks for everything, Y/N. I appreciate it." I smiled as I sat down on another log facing her, and said, "Don't mention it." She nodded and said, "Hey, Y/N. I'm kinda glad you decided to open up to me a little." I nodded and said, "Well, it was an easy way to pass the time and take your mind off the pain. I'm sorry if I came across as an inconvenience and a careless asshole. I've never been very good with other people since I lost my team." She placed her hand on mine and said, "I understand. But I think that you should try to be more open and friendly with others." I nodded and said, "I mean, I guess it wouldn't hurt to try." Winter smiled and said, "I'd appreciate it if you did." She looked at me and said, "Now, can you promise me something?" I raised an eyebrow and said, "Depends on what it is." She replied, "Promise me that once our rescue ship arrives, you'll get some sleep." I rolled my eyes and said, "Sure." She smiled and we both just waited until we heard the sounds of an approaching Airship. I helped Winter up and we made our way to the clearing when it had landed. As we approached the transport, the paramedics noticed us and rushed to help Winter onto the Airship. I followed them and sat down inside. The paramedics began to give Winter's injuries a look over as we took off. I leaned back in my seat and rested my eyes.
I hope you all enjoyed this chapter.
Master out.
