Your POV
After I had put Violet to bed, my Scroll went off as I headed back downstairs. I pulled it out of my pocket and saw a message from James.
I sighed and said to my sister, "Hey, Saff, I have to leave early in the morning to report for a mission. Can you tell Violet when you wake her up in the morning?" She nodded and said, "Sure."
The Next Morning
I arrived at the elevator to Ironwood's office a few minutes earlier than I needed to. As the elevator doors opened, I heard the sound of a pair of heals approaching. I entered the elevator and held the door open. As Winter came around the corner, she entered the elevator and said, "Thanks for holding the elevator doors." I nodded and said, "Not a problem." When the elevator arrived at the General's office, both Winter and I exited and saw the General waiting at his desk. He looked up at us and said, "Perfect, you're both here. I have a new mission for you two. One of our surveillance dones located a possible White Fang base. But before we could get exact location or confirmation that it was a White Fang base, our drone was shot down. Your mission is to locate, infiltrate, and take out the base. Your transport ship leaves in a few minutes. Good luck you two." Winter saluted as we both replied, "Yes, Sir!" He dismissed us and we got back onto the elevator. After we had gotten everything we'd need for the mission, Winter and I boarded the Airship. After it took off, Winter looked at me and said, "Hey, Y/N. I meant to ask, how did the gang members that attacked you not catch you off guard?" I smirked and activated my HCA as I said, "Because of this. It's a small piece of tech that I made after I lost my team. It's an HCA, or Holographic Combat Assistant. It's an earpiece that when activated, creates a hologram in front of my right eye that I'm able to use in combat to help me identify any possible threats and monitor my Aura easily. As the gang members had started to close in on me, my HCA alerted me to their presence." Winter nodded and said, "I see. Well I must say that is a pretty nifty little gadget." I chuckled lightly and said, "Thanks, I was going for nifty."
My tone became more serious and distraught as I added, "Besides it's means a lot to me, especially since most of the wiring and computer chips that I used to make it were from my team's damaged Scrolls." Winter looked at me in surprise and said, "So you'd always have them to watch your back. That's very thoughtful." I smiled weakly and said, "Thanks, Winter." She smiled and said, "You're welcome." After our Airship dropped us off, I looked at Winter and I said, "Hey, I was thinking, if we can find the downed drone, we might be able to use it to find the location of the White Fang base. If I can repair it enough, we could use it to get a bird's eye view." Winter nodded and said, "That could work. But only if we come across the drone." I nodded and said, "Of course." Then I activated my HCA and added, "Let's get started." After a couple hours of searching, my HCA dinged and its display read: "FAINT ATLESIAN DRONE SIGNAL DETECTED." (A/N: Not gonna lie, I almost wrote Alterra instead of Atlas.) I spoke up and said, "Hold up, Winter. I think I've picked up a signal on the drone." She nodded and I followed the signal as it slowly got closer.
After a while, I spotted the drone and its wreckage. I ran over to it and tried to repair it, but it was too heavily damaged. I sighed and used my HCA to try mapping the path of wreckage, to see if I could get a rough estimate of where it was when it was shot down. Once I had an estimate of where, I said, "It's too damaged to fix, but from the wreckage, I'm guessing that it crashed from that direction." Winter nodded and said, "Well, at least we have have a guess as to the possible location of the White Fang base. Good work." I rolled my eyes and said, "I don't need you to compliment me on simple things like that." She rolled her eyes and said, "Sorry, force of habit when I'm on a mission with someone else." We followed the trail of wreckage until my HCA's display suddenly read: "WARNING! SEVERAL INCOMING HOSTILES. SCANS SHOW ROBOTIC ENTITIES OF UNKNOWN ORIGIN." I stopped in my tracks, causing Winter to do the same. I unclipped Phoenix Fury from my back and Winter said, "What is it?" As I converted my weapon into its sword configuration, I replied, "We have incoming, but my HCA says they aren't human, Faunus, nor Grimm." She grabbed her sword and said, "Then what are they?" I replied, "I'm not 100% sure. It said robotic entities of unknown origin. So I have no clue what we about to fight or who sent them." Suddenly we were surrounded by dozens of robots that neither of us had ever seen before.
(A/N: I do not own that picture.)
As the robots all pointed their guns at us, I added, "Whoever it was that sent them, one thing's for sure. It wasn't the White Fang."
I hope you all enjoyed this chapter.
Master out.
