Your POV
After we got back to Atlas, the medics rushed Winter off the Bullhead and towards the hospital wing of the academy. As they rushed her off, I smiled at her. Then I noticed General Ironwood approaching me. I turned to him and he said, "I'd like to thank you, Phoenix, for saving Winter's life. If you'd be interested, I would like to talk with you later tonight, after I have debriefed Winter." I nodded and said, "Sounds fine to me." He nodded and and headed in the same direction that Winter was taken. I sighed and headed back to the room that I had stayed in before the mission. I entered my room and took a shower. I needed one after being out in the wilderness for 4 days straight. After my nice and relaxing shower, I got dressed in my usual outfit with a clean shirt. Then I heard my Scroll ring. I picked it up and smiled slightly when I saw the caller ID. It was my sister, Saffron. I answered it and said, "Hey, sis. What's up?" She replied, "Not much, I was just calling to check up on you. It's been awhile since we last spoke." I chuckled lightly and said, "It's nice to hear from you too." She answered, "I was just wondering if you'd be stopping by the house anytime soon. Violet misses you." I sighed and said, "I know she does. She just reminds me of her mother a lot. But I'm actually in Atlas for a mission that I just got back from. So tell you what, I'll stop by and visit tomorrow." Saffron replied, "Violet would love that. I know she misses her daddy." I smiled and said, "Great. I'll see you two tomorrow. Love you, sis." She responded, "Love you too, bro." I hung up and sighed as sat on my bed.
About a month before my team's last mission, Tera and I had a daughter together. Tera and I named her Violet. But we had asked my sister to watch her when we went on that mission. After I returned from the hospital, I told my sister what happened and stayed with her and my daughter for a couple months. Then I asked her if she could watch Violet while I went on a few missions. I promised to visit at least once a month. But that month slowly turned into months. I ended up showing up for her birthday and very rare occasions besides that. Luckily, my sister was understanding about my actions and didn't blame me for any of it. I just hoped that Violet would understand that too. I let out another sigh and heard a knock on the door. I answered it and saw Ironwood standing there. I let him in and said, "So is it that you wanted to talk about?" He replied, "After what Winter told me, I owe you a great deal of gratitude. One for saving Winter, and two, for taking out the target. And from what she said, I could definitely use someone like you on some of my missions. So if you're interested, I'd like to make you an offer." I nodded and said, "And what's that?" He replied, "You could work with my team and military and have a permanent place to live here in Atlas." I scratched my chin amd said, "I'll do it, but I have a couple of conditions of my own. First off, I'm keep my License and title as a Huntsman. Secondly, I don't wear one of your military uniforms, I can wear my usual outfit. Thirdly, I'm not your soldier, I'm just assisting your soldiers. Do we have a deal?"
He thought about it for a minute and said, "Yes. We do. Seeing as you just returned from a rather long mission, I'm allowing you and Winter a couple weeks off." I nodded and said, "Speaking of Winter, how is she?" Ironwood replied, "She is recovering nicely. She should be back to her fully healed self by the end of the week. If you hadn't treated her wounds when you did, she probably wouldn't have made it." I nodded and said, "That's good to hear. Well, goodnight night, James." He smiled and said, "Goodnight, Y/N." He left and I closed the door behind him. I pulled up a picture of my team on my Scroll briefly.
I sighed, set my Scroll on the nightstand, and got undressed. Then I laid down and went to sleep.
I hope you all enjoyed this chapter.
Master out.
