I sit there, on the floor, mouth open with my hands over it.
"I, I don't know what to say." I say quietly. "How can you already like me this much after not even a day?" Luke looks at his lap with a really red face.
"I-I'm sorry." He says and nearly runs out of the house. I follow him, but when I'm outside, he's already out of sight. I sigh. Just then, I feel a big hand on my shoulder. I turn around to see Ashton.
"I'm sorry, sometimes Luke just overreacts. A lot." He says. I just nod and walk back inside.
"I think I'm going to head home." I say. They just 'awh' and ask why.
"At least let me drive you home." Ashton says. I look at him with my eyebrow pulled up. "I mean, I live next to you, and I also kind of want to go home."
"Okay." I say. "Bye guys."
I walk to the door and put my shoes back on. Ashton opens the door and holds it open for me.
"Thanks." I mumble shyly.
"No problem." He replies, smiling. We walk to his car and get in. We drive towards our houses in an awkward silence.
"So, uhm, did you have a boyfriend back home?" Ashton finally asks.
"Uhm, no. I didn't actually have any friends." I reply, feeling even more awkward.
"I don't get why." He says smiling and looking at me for a second. I feel myself blush.
"What did you actually want to say before Luke cut you off earlier?" I ask.
"Oh, uhm, nothing." He says. I can hear he's lying. I can always hear when someone's lying. It's like a gift.
"Oh, c'mon. I can hear in your voice you're lying." I say laughing.
"No really, i-it's nothing." He says. I try to push him, but he just won't tell me. I decide to let it slip. For now at least...
