"ARE YOU FUCKING OUT OF YOUR MIND?!"

The manager's yelling voice was perfectly audible from outside the office.

Sitting in four chairs that faced the door, keeping their heads down and their hands over their knees, were Soobin, Huening Kai, Beomgyu and Taehyun. In front of them and standing by the door, yet another manager had her arms crossed in front of her and nodded enthusiastically at every sentence that the man inside the room yelled.

It was not the first time something like this happened, but it certainly had been a long time since the last time one member of the group had messed up so bad. The yelling would continue for about half an hour, and Yeonjun wouldn't have a saying at any point, they all knew. The rest of the members got gathered outside the office where Yeonjun was, so they'd listen to the manager's words and understood what happened if they crossed the line and ignored their training. In other words, it was a way to keep the members in their place: understanding that their job was to follow orders and that anything other than that was punishable.

"Recently, other groups are expressing their opinions as well...", was the only thing Yeonjun muttered during his confrontation with the Bighit employee, and the moment he did, the rest of the members looked at each other in utter panic, knowing that talking back while being yelled at at work was the worst thing one could do.

Indeed, the manager's anger skyrocketed and the yelling became so terrifying Soobin had to reach out to Huening Kai's hand to comfort him when the youngest boy started sobbing just from listening to it.

"I'm extremely sorry, Mr. Manager", they hear Yeonjun say, and they pictured him bowing as far as his body allowed.

"Your pay will be cut for the next three months, and because to top this off I heard you've been putting on weight recently, you'll get two extra hours of training for two months".

Daily, he meant two extra hours of training, daily. That summed up to fifteen, at that point.

"Yes, Mr. Manager."

Someone opened the door and the Yeonjun that appeared looked like a crying corpse, his gaze dark and his spirits completely crushed, which was precisely what the yelling and mistreatment was meant to achieve.

The manager that was standing outside of the room looked at him and raised an eyebrow, and Yeonjun took a couple of steps towards the other boys and bowed.

"I'm extremely sorry for all the inconveniences I have caused."

The four members stood up from their chairs and bowed in acknowledgement, everything being part of the protocol, of course.

Soobin took advantage of the time when his face was hidden behind his hair to bite his lips and press his eyelids with extreme force to stop himself from crying.

The second manager nodded and showed Yeonjun the way to the gym, because getting some time to calm down was not an option when an idol messed up.

The rest of the members were dismissed and gathered in the living room for some evening tea, the air in the room as dark as it could get.

"I'll go talk to him when he's back", Beomgyu said out of nowhere, no need for context since none of them could stop the yelling and the awful words from replaying over and over again inside their heads.

"No, I'll go.", Soobin answered calmly, "I'm the leader."

It was the perfect excuse. Beomgyu nodded, his eyes unfocused, just like the rest's.

"We could all go together", Taehyun suggested.

"No, it'd overwhelm him."

"Right."
