Chapter 6:The Badass

Jordan tapped my shoulder.

"What?" I looked up from my delicious food, eyes narrowed.

"Come here, I have to show you something." He said gently tugging my sleeve.

"I'm busy." I shoved more of the delicious pancakes into my mouth.

My mom had made a whole stack of them this morning, with sausage and bacon. I hadn't ate a home cooked meal in so long that I had forgotten the taste.

"With what?" He slowly looked me up and down.

Despite my convictions I  found myself blushing furiously.

He pulled at my shirt again this time harder.

With an exaggerated sigh, I finally got up. Jordan was persistent; He would hound me all day if I didn't give in now.

"I'll be back soon, honey." I whispered to my food.

Jordan rolled his eyes, snatching a sausage off my plate. " Hey!"

He led me to the dark basement and my eyes widened.

"Jordan what's--"

"Shh." He put on the light. "Let me do the talking."

Slowly looking around, I couldn't hold back a gasp.

The dingy old basement had been converted into some sort of indoor gym/salon.

One side of the basement looked like a work out facility, complete with a gray treadmill, bench press and weights.

The other part had a full length mirror,  an assortment of beauty products, and an empty clothing rack.

Striding to the middle of the room, he flung his arms out.

"I call it...project bad ass." Jordan  was wearing a 'Aren't I a genius?' look.

I rolled my eyes but couldn't help but grin at the gesture. Yesterday in the tree house, when he had said that he would take care of it I didn't know he meant this.

I traced the outline of the weights with an index finger.

"This is for you to use every day before and after school. In the mornings you could come down and work out a little to keep in shape. And we could also spar together for a bit." He said.

"Jordan I--"

"And that's not all I even got you a girl teach you how to look like a bad ass, even though you already are."

Samantha steps out the bathroom. " Hey little cuz."

"Oh, Jordan!" I dash to him and wrap my arms around his torso.

He looks a little startled but returns the hug.

"Your the greatest best friend ever!" I say.

"Yeah...friend." he looks away, voice suddenly a bit sad.

"Are you okay?" I pull away to look at his face more clearly.

"Yeah, great!" He gives me a tight smile.

I frown. Something was wrong.

"Are you two gonna just stand there, or train?"

Samantha put her hands on her hips.
