Chapter 34 - Round 2

Terra : "Hey Alex, are you doing okay today?"

Her voice came from around the door to his room. It had been a few days since they went to fight the Boss in the Obelisk, but Alex was still struggling with the loss of his best friend, Ben. Terra quietly walked into his room ,closing the door behind here, and joined Alex at the foot of his bed where he'd reside most hours of the day. He remained silent, looking down to the wood floor as if he was zoned out.

Terra : "Ali..?"

Alex : "I still can't believe he's gone..."

Terra pulled him over into a hug, running her hand up and down his arm in a comforting manner.

Terra : "Shhhhh.. I know Ali, I know.. We all can't believe it.."

Alex leaned into Terra, wrapping his arms around her. He let out a long sigh of sorrow as Terra gently pats his back.

Alex : "He was the last one I expected to lose.."

Terra continued to comfort Alex, humming as she did. She then started to slowly rock the both of them back and forth. The room got quiet, with only the sound of faint vibration from the humming filling it, that is until a knock came on the door,

Terra : "He's a little busy right now, sorry."

She called out while trying to hide the annoyance in her voice.

Mira : "It's Mira. I wish to speak to Alex.. Immediately."

Terra gave a puzzled look towards the door, then looking down to Alex. Then the door opened gently, and Mira walked in. Terra glared daggers towards the raptor, screaming in her head what she could possibly be thinking about. The door closed once again, and Mira walked over to the 2. She stood in front of them before getting down on her knees.

Mira : "Alex."

Alex : *Muffled* "Huuh?"

Mira : "Look at me, please."

Mira's robotic voice took on a very gentle tone. Terra then noticed that Mira's eyes seemed to be, rippling? They also appeared brighter than usually, but she couldn't figure out why. Alex slowly rolled his head so could look at Mira.

Alex : "What..."

Mira shuffled around the bed so she could be as close to Alex as she could. She took one of his hands, and gently cupped it with both of her hands.

Mira : "We all are hurting right now Alex. I believe you would know that."

He looked down to her hands around his own, then back to her.

Alex : "Yeah.. But, I've known him for years... I grew up with him. He was one of a kind in my life."

A tear ran down his cheek, his eyes beginning to water up. Mira tightened her grip around his hand, making him jump up to look at her.

Mira : "He was one of a kind in my life as well Alex. Believe me, we both are dealing with unimaginable pain at the loss of someone we both cared for dearly."

A tear fell from Mira's eye, silently hitting the floor below. She too was struggling to keep her emotions in check. She looked at Alex with her dazzling green eyes, and he looked back.

Mira : "I wish it was me who lost their life instead of him Alex. But there's nothing we can do to bring him back."

Her voice started to shake a little. Alex started to tear up more now, several of them managing to escape and make the run down to the ground. Mira continued to keep her gaze, and so did Alex. This was the intervention they both needed to get the problem out.
