Vic POV
Kellin... He's an interesting character... Quiet, but I like quiet, I wonder what goes on in that cute boys head. I walked to the other guys with Kellin trailing behind me as Mr. Garcia called out to Kellin.
"Nice to see you finaly joined us Quinn! Run a lap boys lets go!" I fell in to step with him as we took off running.
"I take it you don't dress much in this class." He shook his head and kept running not really talking. As we ran Kellin was a little faster then I but I still kept up with him.
"Watch it queer" One guy said as they ran in to Kellin. He didn't even make a move to yell at them or stick up for himself, he just kept running.
"You really shouldn't take that. I mean it's-"
"Thanks mother goose but I don't need you to tell me what to do." He snapped completely ignoring my help.
"Okay then." He seems a little distant with people so he probably doesn't have many friends. This is a good chance to get to know him.
"Hey do you wanna go out sometime? I mean just as like friends. It's not like a date or anything, it's just two people hanging out as friends." I said making a complete fool of myself. It was weird because not even 5 minutes ago I was in the locker room completely confident in saying I liked him and now that confidence went out the door with me.
"Wow, that was smoother than a donkeys ass." He huffed as he stopped running.
"Yea I know, but um, how bout it? Hang out at my place tomorrow?" I asked hopefully. If he doesn't say yes I won't take no for an answer.
"I can tell you won't give up if I say no, so yea I guess we can hang out." I was watching him and not really listening so when he stopped talking I thought he said 'no'.
"Oh dude come on I'm just- wait did you say 'yea'?" It seemed to have clicked and I looked at him in shock. He nodded and frowned his eyebrows looking at me like I needed help. "I guess I need to pay attention more." I smiled awkwardly and scratched the back of my neck. He nodded again. As we slowly made our way to the others.
"Quinn! Newbe! Hustle it up we're waiting on you two!" Mr Garcia yelled. The rest of the class and day consisted of playing soccer and learning useless things that I might not even use when I'm out of here. Let's just say I was happy to be home.
"Okay okay listen to this." I heard my little brother say from in his room. "Father Father tell me where have you been. It's been hell not-"
"What are you guys doing?" I asked Mike as he sat in his bed smiling at the green notebook in his hands.
"Reading this kid named Kellin's journal." He said casually. My head perked up at the name remembering the quiet cute boy form PE and I quickly went into his room and snatched the book from him.
"What the hell man!" He yelled and sat up.
"What if this was my journal?" I asked looking at them sternly.
"It's not so give it back." Mike said getting up from his bed.
"But what if it was Mike? Then what? Would any of you read it then?" I said snapping them out of what ever happy bubble they were in.
"If you wrote something like that Vic then I would have done anything in my will to help you." Mike said looking at me in anger. "We all would." He added. What did he write?
"What did he write?" I asked looking at Jaime and Tony.
"Read for yourself." Jaime said not really wanting to put up a fight. They know that I may be little but I can go all Jackie Chan on their asses. Or was It Bruce Lee? Man I don't know they're both asian!
I opened the book and began reading what looked to be like a letter to his mom. As I read I couldn't help but feel tears form in my eyes. Is this what he feels inside? Is this why he isolates himself. I don't want him to feel this way, I want him to be happy with himself, with me, and more importantly, with life. I closed the book and looked at the little drawings on the scratched up green surface before talking.
"You said if it was me you'd do anything to help me. What makes Kellin so different?" I asked Mike. He let out a sad sigh and looked at his bed avoiding my gaze. Right then I knew his answer. "Exactly. And it's sickening to know that my own friends and brother are laughing at this instead of helping him, the person I might actually like." I said looking at all of them. Jaime and Tony's eyes both looked down while Mike looked up at me.
"Vic I didn't-" He started but I cut him off.
"Save it Mike. Now, Kellin is coming over tomorrow and I advise all three of you morons to not speak of this to anyone. Do I make myself clear?" I said through gritted teeth. They all nodded and mummbled a yes. "Good now with that being said we have to practice now lets go."
