Woman of the Night. (Hawks x reader)

14: "3 questions huh?"

I managed to squeeze through the crowd and make it to the taxi that took me to the Endeavours agency, which was the closest to my apartment.

I changed into my civilian self and looked into the fridge.

'What is it that I want?' My mind wandered around my whole being and seemingly out of nowhere, the silhouette of Hawks appeared in front of my eyes. I quickly shook my head, driving those thoughts far away.

'Apples. And cinnamon buns. Yes!' I finally placed my finger on it and made my way to the big shopping centre, looking at some other things as well.

After maybe an hour of wandering around I spotted a familiar figure with vermilion wings and a smaller one next to him. I smiled and walked over to them.

'I think I am going to play a little game with him'

"Beautiful aren't they?" I question while looking through the glass at some fluffy birds with redheads. Hawks and the child turned to me in shock but then quickly adjusted.

I really want to see how Hawks will react and handles the situation. We met a few times before. I spotted him in the school a bunch of times, he was there for 'Hero business' and we had a few conversations over coffee in the teacher's room. With the kid, we talked over it while Hawks was snoring on the couch, so he only smiled when he saw me.

"Oh, hey there y/n." He started "What are you doing here?"

"Nothing just got out to buy some snacks." The kid's eyes widened and he almost jumped on me. This took me by surprise and I moved away from him.

"It's alright. This is Koda. I am officially his guardian, we are here to celebrate." He ruffled Koda's hair as I stood in shock. 

'That was extremely fast and unexpected.' I thought to myself.

"Hey, Koda, nice to meet you." I crouched to his level and smiled.

"So what do you have there?" The kid asked and I open the bag to show him. The smell filled the air around us.

"Apples?" He questioned as he looked through.

"Yeah, why not. I love them" I answered and ruffled his hair.

'This is going to be extremely hard. I should tell Hawks about it.' I thought as I stood up and looked at him. 

'Was he staring at me this whole time?'

"Is something wrong?" I ask

"Is it possible for me to have your number?" He questioned as the smile widened on his face.

"Why are you interested?"

"Wanted to ask you to a nice dinner sometime."

'Hmmm, let's turn this into a game then.' I think to myself as a sly smile spreads on my face.

I take a step closer to him and tiptoe closer to his ear.

"You already have it," I whisper and lean back. "Consider this a game..." I winked at him as I turn to the kid.

"Bye Koda, I'll see you later." I ruffled his hair and he giggles. I look back at the confused and somewhat idiotic face that Hawks had and walk away.

About 100 meters down the hall a group of people started forming around me.

"Is it true what they said"

"Who are you?"

"Who are you to Hawks?"

"Are you Noch?"

The people around me started to push into me with all there questions. I didn't know what to do, so I tried pushing through them and onto the open courtyard but even more, people surrounded me. I couldn't breathe.

"Hey there," I heard from the lamp post and I looked up to see a certain winged hero with a child on his shoulders "Need a hand?" He questioned with a smile and almost floated to me and extended his hand.

'Well... to hell with this, if it gets me out of here.' And I grabbed it. 

He pulls me up into his chest and gets back onto the lamppost. We stand there above ground and I am so confused that I couldn't comprehend what is happening and the only way out of this situation was to stare into Hawks' eyes and search for answers there. His eyes wander around my face and my general figure. If I were to guess he was analysing the way how I would behave.

The lamppost was strong but narrow. He balanced on it perfectly with his huge wings, while I was only holding one of his hands and yet my body and expressions were completely still as if I have done this a million times.... well, I have done it a million time, as Noch. There was no fear and no confusion in my eyes and no worry.

I saw his smile grow on his face, as something sparked in his golden eyes and a big feather flew across my face. I only smiled, without getting my eyes off his. He slowly leaned closer to my face. I felt his warm breath brush across my cheek as he lingered there a little bit.

"3 questions huh?" He hummed into my ear so that no one else could hear and I could feel the slight blush form across my cheeks. 

'Blushing?! Me? For the first time in my life. And Christ, that was quick, he is smarter and more perceptive than I gave him credit for.' I thought

"I liked your game," he lingered as he pulled me even closer to him. I place my hands into his chest and felt it's warms and perfect structure through his black and gold, skin-tight shirt. 

'God Damn it! ' I thought to myself as I bit the inside of my lip.

"But it's over now, Five" and with that, he took off with me and the kid in his arms.

"I won."

All I can do is smirk into his toned chest.

'Yeah, you did.'
