16: Breakdown

(Continuation of chapter 15: proceed with caution)

(hawks pov)

The fight was over as quickly as it started. The woman lay on her back with blood all over her face. Her nose was broken and she had a split lip. She shrank in size and y/n was holding her on the ground with one of her legs across the woman's hips, the other leg was pressing onto the broken arm. One arm was in the woman's throat and the other was holding the hand.

Everything happened so fast, that Koda didn't even see it, but I don't blame him. Y/n is rather quick in close hand to hand combat.

"What was that you said?" Y/n leaned and looked into the woman's face.

"Bitch." The woman spits out blood into y/n face. "Get off me!"

Y/n stood up and opened the drawer with all the first aid kits. She threw some bandages on the woman and some wet cloth.

"Clean yourself up and leave." Her coldness was slowly disappearing as she looked more pissed and worried now.

"Aren't you going to give me a painkiller?" The woman looked over at y/n who was behind the counter and next to her bags. After a little bit of thinking, she reached into her bag and took out a pill, filled the glass of water and gave it to the woman who swallowed it immediately.

After 10 painful minutes, she finally left. I looked out the window in my master room, trying to process everything that happened. I felt panic rise in my stomach.

Last night...

I am so stupid...

What the hell am I supposed to do now...

I don't mind being a dad... 

I actually want to have a kid of my own... but with the person I love. 

What that woman did, was cruel. She lied to me and even after I insisted on protection, she took it off before I could even protest.

I heard a knock on my door.

"Hawks?" Y/n voice sounded through the door. I remained silent. I am scared to face her. I don't want her to see me like this... but it was too late, I heard the door open and she walked into the room. "Hawks, don't worry, everything is going to be just fine." She said.

"How?" I turned to her with tears in my eyes.

'What the hell is happening? It's my own fault that this happened... but she lied.' I looked down at the floor and saw her move get closer and closer to me.

"Hey," her voice softly swirled through the air, I don't think I've ever heard anyone speak to me so softly, "I don't know what happened, but I promise you I took care of it." She whispered. I couldn't contain my tears anymore. My head and hands hugged down, powerlessly and my knees started to give in. Before I hit the floor, someone caught me and I felt that cool sent of Jasmine and cinnamon. I felt the soft hair and the strong hand that wrapped underneath mine for support. She lowered both of us and we stayed on the floor together. I hugged her tightly. 

Right now, she was the only person I could trust. The only one I will ever trust.

"She lied to me" I managed to whisper into her shoulder. "She said... she said... she made me..." I sniffed and clenched onto her even harder.

"Yes she did..." she answered. We remained silent as I tried to calm down. 

"Hawks.."

"Keigo..." I whispered, still having my face buried into her shoulder "My name is Keigo." I felt her smile as she hugged me tighter, avoiding my wings.

"Keigo, it wasn't a painkiller that I gave her..." I felt my whole body freeze. Slowly, as if scared to face her I pulled away and looked at her.

"You mean..?"

"Yes, that was the morning-after pill." I have so many questions right now. "Koda told me everything." 

How does the kid know?

"How does.." My voice is still shaky from the tears.

"His quirk is seeing through people, their true intentions and their true identity. That's how he recognized me through the mask." She said. "That woman had done that with others, to have leverage over them..."

I stare at her, unable to speak.

"You don't have to worry Keigo. I'll have your back, always." As she said that, she did something that is so out of her character that it shocked me to the very core.

She stroke some of my loose hair strands out of my face and smiled.

'I love you y/n' I thought as I pulled her back into a tight hug, burying my face in the curve of her neck. She hugged me back.

"Dad! Mom!" We separated at that exclamation. 

It is still new to me, but for y/n. Is she truly alright with the kid calling her 'mom'? 

Koda was in the room and in a matter of seconds he was on y/n back smiling at me. "Are you okay dad?"

"Yes kiddo, I am fine." I patted his tiny head and he giggled.

"Okay, lets put this behind us and move forward." She stood up while Koda was still clinging onto her back and she extended her hand to me 

"Come on Keigo, we got work to do, there is still a kid for us to save."

I stare at her smiling and gentle face, as it is engraved into my mind. A smile appeared on my face, her excitement and confidence seeped into my whole being. It pushed away all of my other thoughts and worries.

"Let's do it."
