I now understand why Carter has been so worried and paranoid. I am too. Johnathan coming after me and I have no idea when or how he will come for me. Carter noticed my paranoia and was touching me in anyway he could whenever he saw me. Whether it was a hand on my arm, or an arm around my waist. It was at lunch when the good news came. Christina came running up to our table and stopped right in front of Carter.
"Johnathan's left. Well, at least for a little while." She whisper yelled.
"What?!" I yelled back using the same volume.
"Don't relax to much guys. He'll come back, he always does. He's playing us again but this time I'm not letting him win." Carter stood and walked out of the cafeteria.
Silence came over the table.
"I'll go get him." I said. I knew exactly where he would be.
I stood up and walked out of the cafeteria and into the warm outside air. I shoved my thumbs into the pockets of my white denim shorts as I walked to the football field.
He was exactly where I knew he would be. Sitting in the bleachers towards the top. His feet up on the row in front of him and had his elbows propped up on his knees. I walked up the stairs and took a seat next to him, my shoulder touching his.
"What happen with Johnathan?" I asked him.
"It was a long time ago."
"That doesn't answer my question Carter."
"You really want to know?"
"I wouldn't have asked if I didn't want to know."
He let out a long sigh and closed his eyes.
"Two summers ago, Johnathan was in my pack. At the time it was still under my dad's leadership, but I was about to become Alpha. Justin had this girlfriend, Lexi, and she was absolutely amazing. Gorgeous, inside and out."
My heart heart at his words describing another girl in that way.
"One night she pissed Johnathan off. She pushed him right over the edge. He lost it. She was still in human form but right there, in front of the bonfire he shifted and attacked her. She didn't have time to shift before he ended her life. I kicked him out of the pack and banished him. He somehow saw it as betrayal and now its a game for him. I'm not gonna let him kill you like he killed Lexi."
"Was she your mate?"
"Who? Lexi? No, she was Justin's."
"Oh."
"Don't worry, he's better now. I think that's why he's protective of you actually."
"Why?"
"Because your exactly like her."
