"Uh...ok."
And with that he grabbed my wrist and pulled me away from his brother and down the hall.
"Sorry about him he and the pack seem to think I can't stay calm." He explained.
"Pack?"
A look of confusion passed over his face at my question.
"Uh, yeah. Like a pack of friends."
"Oh OK."
The rest of the way was awkward because he never said another word. Thankfully, my class wasn't that far away so the walk didn't last long.
"Umm I think this is it." I stated.
"You have Mrs. Wilson?"
"Yeah, why?"
"Oh, nothing. Its just that's Eli's mom."
"Really?!"
"Yeah, don't worry she's cool."
"Thank God! I suck at math!" I sighed in relief.
He laughed and leaned against the wall beside me.
"Um, so I'll see you later?" He asked.
"Haha Sure."
"Great."
And then he was gone. He quickly made his way back down the hallway.
I didn't see him at all the rest of the day until we were on our way home. Justin agreed to drive me home so I was on my way to his Jeep. That's when I saw it. A pair of bright green eyes staring at me in the woods. Thank God Justin was standing by his Jeep a few feet away.
"Justin!" I yelled not taking my eyes away from the pair staring at me.
"What?! What is it?!" He yelled looking around.
"Do you see that?" I asked, pointing to the eyes.
His face paled and his body froze.
"Ali. Get in the car, now."
"What? Why?"
"Just do it." He demanded, pulling out his phone.
I did as I was told and within a minute the back door flew open and Carter jumped in and Justin soon followed sliding into the drivers seat.
Carter's head popped up beside mine and he started asking questions.
"What did you see?" He asked me.
"A pair of bright green eyes staring at me through the woods. It looked like a giant animal or something."
"Justin drive to the pack house and Ali, don't look out the window." He commanded.
"What?! Why?!" I questioned.
"Just Ali Please!" He begged.
"OK fine whatever."
We arrived at the "pack house" a few minutes later and within seconds Carter had gotten out, opened my door, and pulled me out. He put an arm around my waist and held me to his side in a protective manner. For some reason it didn't bother me as much as I thought it would. I had only known him for a day but it somehow felt longer. That thought alone scared the hell out of me. But the way Carter pulled me towards the house at an immense speed and how Justin was looking around in every direction like we were being watched, scared me even more.
Carter barged through the door that was already held open by a pale blonde haired boy. Carter, not removing his arm from my waist, took long strides down a hallway, up a staircase, and down another hallway to a set of double doors.
Using the arm he wasn't holding me with, he pushed them open to reveal a large room with a long table in the center. There was already people sitting around every seat at the table except the seat at the head of the table.
"Jonathan's back." Carter stated.
Those two words were enough to send the entire room into panic.
