Light smut ahead
None of the fire fighters knew that the landlord of the building was secretly brewing alien alcohol in the basement. As soon as the flames reached the distillery in the basement, the firefighters were trapped. The explosion did serious damage to the foundation and support columns, causing the walls and ceilings to start collapsing. The firefighters made it to the roof where Supergirl saved the last of the firefighters from the burning building.
As Supergirl did her last xray sweep of the building to ensure that the last of the residents were out, the building collapsed completely causing a red dust to fill the air. Supergirl coughed harshly at the dust and her veins and eyes flickered red temporarily. No one saw this as she was obscured by the dust cloud.
Alex called out to Supergirl over the comms, "Supergirl, are you alright?"
"Yes, Alex," Kara continued to cough. "I'm fine." Supergirl took off to return to the DEO. She landed with a thud on the balcony and walked up to the command center.
"Thank God you are alright. We lost sight of you with the dust cloud. Speaking of which why was it red?" Alex said quickly.
"How should I know, Alex? I thought you were the scientist," Kara snapped back.
Alex was taken off guard by the behavior. "Well could you give me your supersuit? I could take samples and try to figure it out."
"And leave me defenseless if an emergency comes up?" Kara quips back.
"If I may interrupt, I have a new suit for you, Supergirl," Brainy said. "These glasses, when removed rapidly will cause the supersuit to materialize around you. Be careful when you take off your glasses next."
Kara used her superspeed to change into her usual reporter clothes and threw her suit harshly at Alex. She put on the glasses Brainy held out to her. Before Alex could say anything about Kara Danvers, reporter, leaving a top secret DEO site, Kara flew out of the building.
"What has gotten into her?" Alex muttered to herself. She turned to Brainy, "Take samples and figure out what the dust is. And hurry. I have a bad feeling about this."
Kara showed up to work just in time to hand Ms. Grant her usual coffee order and started giving Ms. Grant her schedule for the day. Immediately, the Queen of all Media noticed a different tone in Kara's voice. "What is it Kiera?"
"First, it's Kara. Second, you gave me free reign to decide my career. You approved me of being a reporter, but now I have to play both reporter and personal assistant because you keep scaring my replacements away," Kara said with a serious tone.
"Yes, Kiera," Ms. Grant emphasized the incorrect name. "You were tasked for finding a replacement for me. It is not my fault you cannot find someone capable."
Kara walked up to Ms. Grant's desk with authority in her steps. She placed her hands on the desk and leaned over to look at Ms. Grant in the eyes. For a brief moment, Kara became aware of what she was doing and backed up suddenly and stumbled over her words, "I- I'm so sorry, Ms. Grant. I- I don't know wh-what's happening." Kara rushed out of the office before Ms. Grant had a chance to react.
Kara did the only she could think of, she went to LCorp to visit Lena. She didn't know why she was being so snappy with everyone and hoped that Lena could help her calm down. The CEO always had that effect on her. As she was riding the LCorp elevator to the top floor, red flashed in the reporter's eyes and veins. Kara's entire body language changed from timid, nervous girl to confident, rigid woman. She walked into Lena's office radiating pure confidence and authority.
Lena looked up from her stacks of paperwork with a sudden bright smile, "Kara! This is unexpected. What can I do for you?"
Kara didn't say anything. She just continued to fierce strut behind Lena's desk, placed her hands on the chair's armrests and rolling the surprised CEO into a demanding and powerful kiss. Both women get lost in each other. Only when they need to come up for air does Lena just realized what happened. Both are breathing heavily and both sets of eyes are dilated to the point that there is hardly any green or blue to see. Kara moved to capture the young CEO's lips again only to feel Lena's hand on her chest to gently stop her.
