Kara flipped through her mail. Bill, junk, bill, junk, junk, mystery? Kara stopped her shuffle to look at it closer. The return address just had an 'LL' with a National City address. She tears through the envelope to see a check for... five thousand dollars? Kara's eyes flit to the owner of the check:

Lena K. Luthor

It had been a week and a half since Kara watched that enchanting woman drive off. Not that she had been counting. She hadn't; she swears. Kara still had dreams of Lena. She would wake up in a sweat, heart racing. She could have sworn each time that she would roll over to see the woman next to her in her bed. They had spent less than 24 hours together, but still, she couldn't help herself.

"Five thousand? That's ridiculous..." Kara muttered to herself.

She put the check up on her fridge. She grabbed a cold bottle of soda before she just stood there staring at it. There's no way she could cash it. Even if she charged Lena, it would have only been for the part, and that would have been only a couple hundred at most.

"Hey, Kar! You ready?" Alex shouted as she came up the stairs. "What'cha looking at?"

Kara barely registered her sister's arrival. It wasn't until Alex snatched the check down that she even reacted. "Hey! Paws off!"

"Holy smokes!" Alex exclaimed. She managed to get a peak at the amount before Kara swiped it out of her hands. "Who owed you that much?"

"No one."

Alex spotted the torn envelop and made an educated guess that's where the check came from. "LL? Who's LL?"

"Alex, seriously. You gotta stop barging in here."

"Wait? Wasn't that lady a couple weeks ago named Lena?"

Kara huffed as she moved around her apartment to gather her things. It was Sunday, so the sisters needed to head over to Eliza's for family dinner. "Let's go. We're going to be late."

"She seriously sent you five grand? Did you ask for that?"

"Of course not!" Kara snapped.

"Jeez. Sorry," Alex responded facetiously. "Also, for the record, I shouted in advance this time."

"That still doesn't count as knocking, Alex."

The duo was quick to leave the shop and climbed into Kara's truck. Alex didn't drop the subject. "That check would make for a pretty good downpayment for a new rig."

"I'm not keeping it."

"Why not?" Alex asked seriously.

Kara sighed. "That's way too much money. I can't keep it."

Alex scoffed. "That's ridiculous."

"Well, it's a good thing it's not your name on it."

There were a few beats of silence. "So, have you looked her up yet?"

Kara's crinkle was on full display.

"The check has to have her full name on it. Did you google her?"

"I hadn't gotten that far," Kara mumbled.

Alex quickly dug out her phone from her pocket. "What was her last name?"

"Stop, Alex."

"Come on," Alex egged her on. "You have to be curious. You didn't even get her number. Maybe you can find her on socials."

Kara thought about it. She took a deep breath before she whispered, "Luthor."

Alex's thumbs flew across the screen as she typed in 'Lena Luthor.' A heavy silence filled the cab as Alex's jaw dropped.
