"Why should I leave ?" asked Cassie angrily. She was being forced to leave her school , her life and go live with her aunt alone. She loves her Aunt she really does and it's not like she loves her school but she just doesn't wanna leave which her parents just don't get . She always finds it hard adjusting to new environments.
She used to have severe panic attacks until one of her really good friend helped her to overcome it . Now as soon as she has stopped getting panic attacks her parents are sending her away.
They never liked her she knew but to just send her away that's just harsh even for them.
"Why does she have to go away?" asked her lil brother Caleb .
"She'll learn better there besides her aunt wants to spend time with her. " replied her mother .
"I can very well spend time with my aunt over the summer break." replied Cassie .
" I said what I said Cassie , learn to obey me ."
This was the end of the conversation and Cassie went to her room and just sat there thinking all night . She had put music but her mind was somewhere else.
" She is leaving this place for good finally." she thought but her Aunt's place is the very place something so traumatic happened with her which resulted in her getting panic attacks her parents knew this , they just didn't care.
Sometimes Cassie felt like she was adopted or something . The harsh truth she never thought would be possible was gonna hit her sooner than she thought .
" Are you ready to leave?" asked her mother .
Cassie was lost in her own thoughts . " Cassie? Caaaaassieee learn to listen to me." shouted her mother.
" Ah what oh yes I'm ready . Can we leave on a good note mother ?" requested Cassie .
" Maybe , depends on your behaviour."
They hadn't obviously woken up Caleb and told Cassie to not wake him up .
Caleb is the only one who loves her in her home and she doesn't get a get goodbye .
"What a fresh start ." she thought . Cassie sat on the window seat again getting lost in her own thoughts.
She saw the tall buildings and skyscrapers turn into big wooden houses and large fields. The fresh smell was in the air unlike her home where all one can smell is pollution. She had at last reached Mallory.
She came here after 6 years nothing had changed , same trees , same houses , same fields , same wind everything familiar unlike the city which is crowded and one can hardly find trees.
She felt a glimpse of hope inside her ,maybe this place will give her a better chance to change her reputation of a stupid , dumb girl who only cares about herself.
She took a deep breath as if she had left her old life in the past .
She picked up her luggage and got out. She saw her Aunt Bianca standing there with wet eyes and a warm smile more than her mother can ever give her .
"Cassie." she said with such warmth in her voice like she had been waiting for this to happen for a long time .
Cassie felt a feeling she hadn't ever felt before and she couldn't describe. "Cassie oh my goodness look at how you have grown . You have become a young girl I always saw in you." said her Aunt
. " Not gonna agree on that but we gotta leave so you save your hellos and fake appreciation for later. " said her mother .
" Leaving? but sister stay a little while ."
" No Bianca." replied her mother .
Saying this she left like she couldn't stand being there for a second. Cassie and her Aunt entered the house .
Her Aunt's house was really big it had wooden flooring and four bedrooms , two upstairs and two below . Behind the house was a big pasture of wheat fields .
In front of her house was a cemented road and crossing the road were two houses . The kitchen was old fashioned and so were the doors .
The staircase looked like a adaption of some castle from some picture book but whatever it was , it was home.
" I have prepared a room for you Cass ." said her Aunt when they returned home .
" Thankyou Aunt." replied Cassie as she picked up her luggage dragging it . Cassie went inside her room she opened the windows and she felt like she belonged in this place .
Her room had two windows and from the small window she could see the wheat pasture .
In the pasture she saw a mother playing with her daughter and felt a pinch inside . She brushed off her feelings and went downstairs to see the mother and daughter duo.
The little girl ran and her mother was yelling at her to slow down .
She felt happy seeing this instead of jealous , okay okay she was a bit jealous . Suddenly the little girl started breathing heavily and asked for water . Cassie had seen this before . The little girl was having an asthama attack .
Cassie rushed to help .
" Addi breathe darling breathe . " said the little girl's mother.
" Where is her nebulizer?" asked Cassie .
" It is at home but how can I leave her alone here?"
"I'll take care of it." said Cassie.
She made the little girl sit upright and told her to take deep breaths and asked her to remain calm .
The little girl felt a little better and her mother came running with the nebulizer till then .
The little girl was fine in a few minutes . " Thankyou a lot for doing this . "
" Welcome but why didn't you have nebulizer with you like you know she can have asthama attack anytime." said Cassie .
" Aunt , I have told you a million times that don't take Addy out with you alone." said a boy from behind . He had black messy hair and hazelnut eyes . "Mom told you clearly not to take her out without us ." shouted the boy .
"I'm sorry she was insisting to go out and I just-" replied the women. "She is a kid she doesn't know anything she cannot run like this." said the boy interrupting .
" Don't treat her different she'll feel different and will always feel inferior." said Cassie .
" It's a family matter don't interrupt." said the boy.
Cassie was shocked like she just saved his sister or whoever she was to him and he just wants to tell her to shut up?
" I think what you wanna say is a Thank you !" said Cassie .
" Wasn't going to but well thanks ."
Cassie crossed her arms and started walking the other way .
The audacity these boys have these days she thought .
" Hey , wait listen . You are Cassie Mcgullon right?" he asked as she was walking back .
" Yes ! I am ." replied Cassie.
" The stubborn little girl with anger issues , ah I remember you ." said the boy .
" Well no one forgets me can't say that for you though." replied Cassie . This was Cassie's twisted way of asking his name .
" I'm Zac." replied the boy.
" Ahh I remember you the annoying person who always boasted a lot ." replied Cassie .
" Well no one forgets me ." said Zac with a wink . Cassie just gave a ' you are weird ' look to him and walked off.
"She didn't change did she?" said Zac to his aunt and little sister .
" I can still hear you ." said Cassie as she entered the house . She turned back to see them and saw he picked up his sister and hugged her as if he had never hugged her .
He sure was scared today . " He may be caring brother  but he sure is a pain in the a** ." thought Cassie.
