A/N- short chapter! Next one will be longer. yule ball has to be a treat for y'all

Everyone in school seemed to be extremely excited for the upcoming Yule Ball. Everyone was trying to get dates already. Including Harry and Ron. They were walking through school , trying to find someone to ask to the ball. Although, Harry did have someone in mind. He just didn't know how to ask her.

Whenever the boys approached a girl or two, they'd immediately scrunch up their noses and walked away from them. "Why do they travel in packs, and how are you supposed to get one on their own to ask them?" Harry asked Ron desperately. He knew he just had to pluck op the courage to ask someone, or Davina, but he didn't want to embarrass himself.

Again, the boys approached a group of girls, Ravenclaws. They stopped giggling when they saw Harry and Ron and they quickly walked over to stand somewhere else.

"Blimey Harry. You slayed dragons. If you can't get a date, who can?" Ron grumped.

"Yea, well. I think I'd take the dragon right now."

The quartet was seated at the Gryffindor table. Ron next to Harry. Hermione next to Davina. They were working on their school assignments, and they had to be quiet.

"This is mad." Ron suddenly stated. "At this rate, we'll be the only ones in our year without dates."

Harry and Ron had still not managed to get themselves a date. Same thing for Davina. Hermione, on the other hand, did get herself a date. Viktor Krum had asked her to go to the ball with him and Hermione had gladly accepted his offer.

Davina and Hermione shared a look. "Just grow some balls and ask someone Ron." Davina whispered, before turning her attention back to her notebook.

"It's not that easy." Ron hissed, but Davina just rolled her eyes and didn't respond.

Harry stared at Davina as she was looking down so she wouldn't notice. That's what he thought. She did notice how his eyes were focused on her. He looked at her and wondered if she already was asked to the ball. He figured she would be soon, and thought he wouldn't make a chance if he would ask her. Oh, how he was wrong. But he didn't know, so he didn't ask her now.

Suddenly, footsteps approached behind the boys. It was Snape, who hit Ron with a book on the back of his head. When Snape walked away again, Ron whispered to Harry: "Well, at least we won't be the only two without dates."

Hermione and Davina looked up and Harry asked: "How come?"

"Neville."

Harry snickered. "Yeah but then again, he can take himself." Harry was talking about the night before, when Ron and Harry had caught Neville dancing by himself in their dorm.

Davina and Hermione knew better. "It might interest you to know that Neville's already got someone." Hermione hissed.

Ron groaned. "Now I'm really depressed." He did really look like he was depressed now. Davina sighed and said: "Come on Ron, just ask someone. You'll be fine." Harry looked at her and tried to pluck up some courage, but still didn't ask her.

"What is it Henry?" She asked him and he looked like he was caught doing something bad. He took a deep breath and he decided to just ask her.

Davina and Harry both didn't know how much the other would want to go to the ball with them. Davina didn't know what Harry was going to say, but she hoped he would ask her to the ball.

Before Harry could say anything, a piece of parchment landed in front of Ron and he looked up to come eye to eye with Fred. He opened the paper and it said: 'get a move on or all the good ones will have gone.'
