At the end of Chapter 14: As Can and Sanem went into Can's office, they were met by Polen. She had been in his office waiting for him. The mere sight of Polen disturbed Sanem and made her feel ill. Can demanded to know what Polen was doing in his office. Polen first noticed the ring on Sanem's finger and then saw the one on Can's. She smirked and asked Sanem, "So, you think this ring will get you my man?" Then she spoke to Can. "I thought you had more insight than this. Can't you see she is using you?" She laughed then and added, "That is OK. Go ahead and have your little fun and games. She is going to cost you your photography career. Hope she is worth it." Sanem shot a look at Can and could see his anger was beginning to boil. "Was Polen threatening Can's career? How can that be? She would not allow that to happen. Before Can could say a word, Polen turned and stormed out the door.

Sanem turned to Can with her eyes full of questions. "Can, what did Polen mean, lose your photography career? She can't do that can she?" Her eyes filled with tears. "What a mean and vindictive person," she thought. "Can, please tell me what she is talking about."
Can took a deep breath to calm down and lowered his voice almost to a whisper. "Sanem, my love, there is nothing she can do to us. Those are all empty threats. She just wants to make us unhappy."
Sanem threw her arms around Can's neck and held on for dear life. "Can, just make her go away. This is our time. Why can't we be happy?" She was trembling inside. She hated the way Polen always made her feel. Can took her to the sofa and sat down, holding Sanem and allowing her a few minutes to calm down.
Deren knocked on the door to ask if she could do anything for them. Can thanked her and told her to send everyone home for the rest of the day. Emre came in then and offered to talk to Polen. See if he could put an end to her antics but Can refused his offer.
Can and Sanem stayed in his office until Sanem was calm and ready to leave. She was definitely not looking forward to saying goodnight to Can tonight though.
When Can arrived home, he called Burak, a friend who was a Board Member of the Photography Union. He told him about Polen's threats and urged him to be aware of what she might and could do. He asked him not to believe anything she said and added, "Polen seems destined to ruin my career with lies. I hope you will understand that."
Burak had known Can for years and had total faith in him. He assured him they would handle whatever lies Polen came up with and treat them as falsehoods. Can felt better just letting the Board know what could possibly happen. Now he hoped Polen did not have a plan for Sanem to suffer the same fate she intended for Can.
Over the next few days, Can remained very guarded and suspicious. They carried on with their work at the Agency as the date for Sanem to leave on her book tour grew closer. The presentation to the cosmetic company was successful. The client loved the campaign and, of course, wanted Sanem to be the face of their brand. She thanked them profusely but declined the offer. She assured them they would find the perfect model to showcase their brand.
Can and Sanem's marriage plans were coming along nicely. Sanem was leaving it up to her mom and Leyla to organize everything while she was gone. She jokingly told them, "Just tell me when and where and I'll be there." They knew Can wanted the wedding to take place as soon as Sanem returned. So, they were working hard to finalize all of the plans for the event.
The absence of Polen had Sanem worried. She wondered what she was up to. She knew they had not heard the last of her yet. Can had the same reservations but tried hard not to let them show to Sanem.
