**TW: attack/injury/blood**

Natalie's POV:

We walk out the front doors of the hospital, our fingers interlaced. I can't seem to stop looking at him, at his little smile, at his dark brown eyes. He takes lets go of my hand, and I put on a sad puppy face, jokingly. He giggles, but I realise that he only did that to put his arm around me again. I smile, take his hand, and intertwine our fingers again. He gives me a little kiss on my head again, which makes me feel amazing. We continue to make our way to the parking lot.

Once we've reached Crockett's car,  he takes his arm off my shoulder and looks at me "Wait, you're car is still here, right?", "Yeah, but it's fine, I can just leave it here, I'll get it tomorrow" I say. He nods, and proceeds to find his car keys. I look around the parking lot, just out of boredom, when I notice a bit of a creepy figure looking at us. As subtle as possible I try and hint Crockett, because the figure is coming closer. "Yeah, I know, I almost found my keys and then we'll go home" he says. "N- no, Crockett, I think that somebody is coming towards us, but I'm not sure" I says nervously. He turns around, only for us both to notice that the person is extremely close. Crockett tries to find his keys even quicker, hoping that we can get in the car quickly enough. To our luck, he finds them, but it's too late.

"Drop the keys" a rough voice says. Crockett slowly turns around and drops his keys on the ground. I feel myself breathing quicker, and starting to panick more and more, scared of what's going to happen. "Empty your pockets, quickly and quietly" he said, looking at us with a threatening look. I instinctively grabbed my purse a bit tighter, and noticed Crockett also hesitating. "Look, man, I'm sure that there's a different solution to th-" but Crockett gets cut off by the guy punching him. I startle as I hear his face smack against the car. He punches him again, and kicks him,  again, and again, as I just stand there, with Crockett trying to protect himself. Through all the noise, I hear Crockett saying, nearly yelling at me "run, Nat, run!", and my flight response kicks in.

I run the other way as fast as I can, trying not to look back, as I hear the guy shout something like 'oh no, you won't'. I run, and I keep running, trying to get back inside as quickly as possible, as I feel someone taking my arm and holding me back. I get turned around by the mugger, and I try to fight him off, until I feel an incredibly sharp pain in my stomach.

I look at him, his face completely blank, as I drop to the ground, barely able to breathe. I lie on the ground, trying to put pressure on my wound with my last strength, as I see the mugger running away, and my vision getting blurry.

Crockett's POV

He ran away. He ran after Natalie, I realise. I try and get up, my ribs aching. I pull myself up at the car, and look around through my not swollen eye, trying to find Natalie. As I scan the parking lot, I see someone laying on the ground with a red stain on the floor. Natalie.

I push myself off the car, trying to find my balance. I want to run to her, but I barely can stand, so I end up stumbling all the way. I reach her, seeing her with her hands on her stomach, slightly sobbing. It breaks my heart to see her like this. I ignore all the pain shooting up and down my body, and pick her up. Trying to see if she's still alive, I stumble to the hospital, my head in complete chaos.

Will's POV:

It's a pretty quiet night. Although it's a forbidden word in the ED, I can't help myself thinking it. I walk over to April. "Hey, I still wanted to talk to you about the trial, I-" but I get cut off by staff gasping. I hear a hoarse voice, and as I recognise it, I turn around to see Crockett holding and almost lifeless Natalie in his arms. He looks pretty beat, and I rush over to them.

"What happened?" I ask distressed. "We, uh, we we were robbed, and and he- uh- he stabbed her" he answers with a trembling voice. "Alright, ok, give her to me, and I'll bring her to a treatment room" I say in a calming voice. He looks at me really scared, and says "no" in a firm voice. I notice that he's in shock, and isn't in his right mind. "Crockett" I say, again very calm, trying to get him to realise that their safe. He nods slowly, and hands her to me, very hesitant.

Once she's in my arms, I run over to Baghdad. "April, get in here, page doctor Lanik and tell the OR that we're on our way up!" I shout. The nurses and I hook Natalie up to the ECG, and I cut open her shirt to reveal a bloody stab wound. I grab the ultrasound, to check how bad her injury is, when I hear Crockett mutter "the- the baby- the baby- you have to save it". I look at him incredibly confused, but as soon as I look on the ultrasound I understand what he's talking about. Upon seeing it, I realise that my suspicions about them were correct, but I'm actually sad to have them confirmed. The knowledge that their going to have a baby makes it even worse, but I push those feelings aside to focus on Natalie.

We treat Natalie as far as we can, and bring her to the elevator. "You know the protocols, you can't come with her" I say, as I stop Crockett from entering the elevator, seeing tears in his eyes "let's get you to a room, make sure you're ok, and then I'll take you up-" but he cuts me off. "No, no I- I can't, I can't leave her again, I can't, I just can't" He says, trying to push me away, clearly still upset. "Ok, alright, you decide. Since it'll take a while before we will know anything about Natalie, we can clean you up a bit and-" but before I can finish my sentence, he hits away my arms. He starts breathing quicker, nearly hyperventilating, and it looks like he's going to faint. He leans on the counter, trying to catch his breath, tears dropping on it.

"Crockett, I don't know what happened, but there is no way that it was your fault, ok? You shouldn't blame yourself for someone else's actions, ok? Look, I'll take you upstairs to the waiting room, and we'll wait together." I say, as I put my hand on his shoulder. He sighs, and nods, while wiping away his tears.

Crockett's POV:

A few hours later

Will and I are sitting in the waiting room, both very nervous. My mind finally calmed down, and I see Maggie walking to us. She looks like she cried, but tried not to. She sits down next to me, and takes my hand, "have you guys heard anything?" she asks Will and me. I don't have the energy to answer, so I just simply shake my head.

A few minutes later Jim walks out of the OR area, and walks up to us. I stand up, and a sharp pain shoots through my side, but I don't want to think about it now. "Ok, so, she's alright, there was quite some bleeding, but she pulled through." Jim says "about the baby-
