**TW: blood**

Crockett's POV:

The tension between Will and me can be cut with a knife, and to be honest I cannot wait to get out of the elevator. We're silently standing, waiting to reach the floor, when the elevator stops and the lights go out. Will and I stumble a little, almost losing our balance, as we look at each other confused. We both stay silent for a while, before Will presses the emergency button. Usually some voice now turns on and tells us to wait for a call to go through, yet now it stays silent. Will presses the button a few times again, but nothing happens. I take out my phone and check for any messages, or someone to call, but I notice that there is no reception. "Should we see if we can open the doors, to see if we can find anyone?" I ask him. "Yeah sure" he says, still refusing to look me in the eyes.

We both grab either side of the elevator doors, and as soon as he nods, we pull the doors, and they open enough to fit two arms through. I look through the gap in the door, and see to my disappointment that we are exactly in between floors. Neither of them are reachable, as they are just out of our reach. All of the lights are out too. I sigh deeply, and walk to the far corner in the elevator. I lean on the wall, hoping that Natalie is ok, as I still do not know in what kind of a situation we've landed in.

Natalie's POV:

I flare my nostrils and turn around sighing, as this happens at least once every year, yet every year it's a different stressful situation. I raise my eyebrows, and I see Maggie looking very disappointed too. She grabs her phone and turns her flashlight on. She walks over to a counter more central of the ED, and I help her get onto it. "Ok, people, listen up! I'm sure somebody has already called the fire department, and until this situation is fixed we are going to have to manage the patients ourselves. It's most likely that we will recieve an awful lot of extra patients, so mark them and prioritise them! Only give patients supplies if needed! Ration the rest. Let's get to work!" she shouts. I help her down from the counter, and as I am about to walk away to treat patients before others come in, Maggie stops me. "Take it slow, ok? I can get the on-call doctors, or others to cover some patients for you." she says. "Mags I'm fine, no need to worry" I say. She scoffs jokingly and walks away.

A few hours later

Crockett's POV:

Quite some time has passed, and both Will and I gave up on trying to get out of the elevator, so I just sat down, waiting for someone to come rescue us. It felt sort of weird, being so helpless, and an added bonus was having an angry Will pacing around next to you. "Man, just sit down. Pacing won't make the time go by any faster. Just, come, sit down" I say patting on the floor next to me.

Will stops pacing for a second and looks at me "I'm fine" he says sternly. I put my elbows on my knees and look at the floor, sighing.

"I have to ask" I start pointing my eyes directly at Will, "is the reason that you're mad at me because Nat and I are together, even having a baby?" I ask him, and he stops pacing. He lifts up his head, and looks me in the eyes for the first time all day. To my surprise, his eyes are a little red, and I'm pretty sure I can see tears in his eyes. He frowns, I'm guessing to try and hide the fact that he's crying, either in frustration or out of sadness. "Because, well, I might not entirely get it, but in a way, I do. I understand you, the pain you're going through, I know it's hard." I say in the calmest way possible. Will turns around, and wipes his hand across his face. He turns back around to me

"Yes. That's it. Is that what you wanted to know? Alright? That from now on, everytime I'm going to see your face, I have to think of the fact that you got the person that I wanted to spend my life with, the person that I wanted to make happy until the day I die? Huh? Is that what you wanted to hear?" he yells.

I jump a little at the sudden change of volume, and because of what Will just told me. I stand up, still staying in the corner. "I-", but Will cuts me off. "Was that not good enough for you? You want to know that I now have to fight the urge to punch you, choke you, whatever else, because I didn't manage to pull myself together and tell Natalie to choose me instead of you?" he yells yet again.

In that moment my mind snaps "punch me" I say. He looks at me confused. "Punch me" I repeat. I don't know what I'm thinking in this moment, but I think on the inside I always expected him to refuse punching me.

Which of course leads me to not expect that fist.

I stumble back, and smack agains the wall, feeling little blood dripping from my nose. I blink a couple of times to sharpen my vision, and see Will standing there looking at his red fist. Once I get my mind straight, I slide down the wall and get back to my original position on the ground.

Will winces a little and straightens and closes his fist a couple of times. I look up at him, still holding my finger under my nose to keep blood from dripping everywhere. "And I suppose you don't have any tissues or something like that?" I ask him. "Nope" he says, and turns around, checking to see if anyone finally came.
