Empty.

That's all I feel.

You'd think that as all the memories come flooding back I'd feel more...complete.

But I don't.

I just feel empty.

I've been running for so long I had pushed away the truth to avoid this feeling.

This is the feeling.

This is what I've been forcing away.

"Lucy?"

Natsu calls out my name and suddenly a swarm of emotions thrusts itself into my head at the fact that Natsu still stands in front of me.

I don't want him to go...

A sob forces itself out of my throat.

My eyes rapidly fill with liquid and I look up to Natsu.

"I don't want it to be true, Natsu."

His face quickly morphs into sorrow and he solemnly nods his head.

"I know, Lucy...but it is the truth. There's no running anymore."

Emotions of loss and yearning flood my head as reality starts to settle in.

Tears race down my cheeks.

This is the truth.

"You...you  died."

My voice croaks out the words.

"I know it hurts, Lucy, but you have to remember that you felt happy."

I shake my head.

"It wasn't real!"

He takes a step towards me and my eyes widen at him.

"You're not real..."

"It doesn't matter, Lucy. I know that you were happy...you need to know that the happiness that you felt with me...you can have that at Fairy Tail too."

He stops in place and smiles at me.

His smile is sad...he's saying goodbye.

Fear rises in me as the reality of what's going to happen settles in and my eyes grow wide.

I shake my head at him, tears pouring down my cheeks.

"You can be happy, Lucy. It's not just me...it's Fairy Tail. Fairy Tail is your home, Lucy. It's your family just as it is mine."

No...

No, don't go...

What am I supposed to do without you?

I press my lips together, them turning white as I'm unable to speak knowing that he's going to disappear. I rush forward to grab hold of him before he can leave, tightening my eyes shut as I fall forward where he stands.

"They always will be, Lucy. Just as I always will be."

His voice comes out a whisper just barely heard as I near where he stands.

I fall forward without hesitation, my arms outstretched in hopes of grabbing hold of him before I lose him....but instead of feeling Natsu's shirt...I'm left falling.

Natsu is gone.

And all that's left is to fall to the ground below with nobody there to catch me.
