8- Natsu being Natsu

"You want a bite?"

I glance up from my shoes, pausing in the middle of untying them. Natsu looks at me with a goofy, food filled smile, holding a chunk of sandwich in front of him.

I look back down to my shoes and slide my boot off of my foot.

"No thanks."

He shrugs and tosses it into his mouth.

"More for me."

I set my shoes on the ground and grab the small sack that I keep clasped on my belt.

I untie it and empty the contents out onto my hand. My eyebrows crease as only a few coins fall from the sack.

Did I really spend all of my money on this room?!

I shake the bag desperately.

No no no!

I can't go anywhere quickly with no money!

I fall backwards onto the bed, my hands flying through the air.

"Ughhh."

Natsu glances up from his food.

"Hmmm?"

I wave my arms in the air exasperatedly.

"I'm so poor! I spent almost all of the money I had on this room-"

I give him a pointed look.

"-and on your outrageously large dinner!"

Natsu pops a piece of meat into his mouth and with food-filled cheeks he smiles.

"It's not that bad. The food is totally worth it."

He swallows and smiles a satisfied grin, rubbing his belly in content as he does.

"Ughhh."

I groan in annoyance and reach my hands around on the bed for a pillow without moving anything but my arm.

I lazily toss it across the room at him. It hits his face and plops to the ground soundlessly. He pauses for a moment, before continuing on as if I hadn't just thrown a pillow at his face. He opens up a package and munches loudly on it's contents.

I roll my eyes and lay flat on my back, staring at the ceiling of the room deep in thought.

I don't have enough money for a ticket to the next town over, so definitely not enough for a ticket all the way to a town on the other side of Fiore.

I bite my lip in concern at my now hazy plans for the next couple of days.

Walking isn't ideal. I want to get all the way to a town on the other side of Fiore as soon as possible.

If it comes down to it I could start walking and figure something out later...

The ceiling disappears from my view and something hits my face.

I sit up in the bed, a pillow falling into my lap.

I raise my eyebrow at it and look over to Natsu whose attention is no longer on his food, and is now directed at me.

"We could do a quick job."

Why didn't I think of that? I was only thinking about getting away from here as soon as possible. I guess I didn't even think about spending enough time with Natsu to work.

I toss the pillow at him and he catches it, holding it in his lap.

"There are always some local jobs needing to be done. I bet we could ask around and find someone that could use some help."

My face lights up and I smile at him.

"Perfect! Tomorrow morning we'll get up early and get us some money!"

I fall back onto the bed.

Natsu chuckles and stands up.

"Alrighty then. I guess that means it's time to get some sleep."

I nod with my eyes softly closed.

As soon as I hear the lights go off and Natsu falling onto the couch, I turn onto my side.

I need money so that I can get as far away from Natsu and Fairy Tail as possible, but now I'm feeling a knot in my stomach at the thought of it.

Why does he have to be so...so...him?!

Natsu's warmth has always spread easily.

His smile that reaches all the way to his eyes even in times of trouble.

A sad, closed lipped smile appears in my head and I shut my eyes tightly, my hands becoming tense.

It's for the best.
