Y/n's POV

I turned the corner of the hallway, looking for C/n. He wanted to go to the restaurant that recently opened nearby for our lunch break but I haven't managed to find him just yet...

Oh, there he is!

Just as I was about to open my mouth to call out his name I saw C/n get slammed into the row of lockers lining the hall. I covered my mouth to suppress a gasp and stood in my place in utter shock.

"Haven't you learned your lesson? You're too much of a wimp to be around here!" an average height boy yelled as two other boys held C/n's arms against the lockers.

"I'm the wimp? You can't even show up in front of me unless you've got at least another two of your minions with you," C/n smirked.

His remark earned him a kick in his shin and the gasp of pain that came out of his mouth snapped me out of my state of shock.

"What the fuck do you think you're doing?!" I yelled from across the hallway as I started speed-walking to the boys.

"We're not doing anything Y/n. Just taking care of scum," the boy who had taunted C/n answered.

"Get your arms off of him! You're the scum here," I kicked the two kids holding C/n in their shins.

"Look Y/n, I don't know why you care about this trash but fine, don't say we didn't warn you."

C/n landed a punch square in the kid's jaw as the other two boys quickly scurried away like little mice. The kid that was taunting C/n (and who just got punched in the jaw) was ready to pounce before I quickly stood in front of C/n, making it clear he'd be in a 2v1. He just rolled his eyes before walking away.

Once the hallway was clear, I turned to C/n with my arms crossed, "When were you gonna tell me that people were bothering you?"

"I'm fine, I didn't wanna worry you," C/n reassured as he stretched his arms.

I looked at him in disbelief, "I'm literally your best friend. You're supposed to worry me because I care about you and you should trust me with these things C/n!"

"Just drop it, it doesn't matter. I'm all good see?" he motioned his arm up and down his body.

"You idiot! Not all injuries are on the outside. I don't even care if you beat all those kids up to a pulp while you stayed woundless, you still should've told me they were giving you a problem!"

I stood glaring at C/n, my arms in their same stiffly crossed position. Somehow, he cracked a smile.

"Ok ok. I'm sorry for not telling you I just didn't want you to think I'm a wimp. I'll make sure to always worry you from now on," he patted my head.

I swatted his arm away and started walking, letting him catch up, "Haha very funny. Don't worry, I already know you're a wimp anyway, you've got nothing to hide."

"That's rude Y/n. If anything, you're the wimp here," C/n smirked.

I raised an eyebrow, "And why would I be the wimp out of us two?"

"'Cause you can't even get enough courage to ask out your crush."

I choked, "E-excuse me? I don't even have a crush so you're point is automatically invalid."

My heart started beating faster and my palms began to sweat as the sick feeling of nervousness was building in my stomach. I didn't even look at C/n and kept up a brisk pace toward the exit of our school.

"Don't forget I know a lot of things about you Y/n, including the fact that you make that face when you lie."

"Wha-"

C/n quickly pulled me into his arms and slid his hand down my arm so it was resting around my wrist, right on my pulse.

"Your heart is beating awfully fast Y/n, anything you'd like to tell me?"

"You're in my personal bubble."

"No matter how serious you try to sound, your heartbeat isn't matching your words," he stated smugly while tugging me closer.

"Well, what do you know? Who do I like then?" I replied coyly.

C/n pulled me into a tight hug and I could almost hear his grin when he spoke, "Me."

I shuddered but hugged him back, "Let's just keep walking, I'm hungry."

"You didn't deny it!"

"Shut up."
