F/n: Friend's name (Male)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I watched with half-lidded eyes as C/n sat on the couch, laughing with some friends. The alcohol was getting to me, and it was making my staring much worse.
It's a Saturday night, and B/f/n decided to have a kick-back at her house. But as more and more people were invited through word of mouth, it quickly evolved into a small party thanks to her house's proximity to our campus.
"Y/n!" My gaze focused on F/n, who was motioning me over. "Get over here real quick."
I raised an eyebrow, but obeyed. F/n was leaning against the couch where C/n was sat. I felt his eyes on me as I approached, but I maintained eye contact with F/n.
"No more drinking games," I joked, "I'm this close to falling over."
"Yeah right." He rolled his eyes at me, "No, we'll get some more shots in a sec. I was just gonna ask you something."
I stood in front of F/n somewhat impatiently as our conversation quickly turned into him asking me to set him up with B/f/n.
"Come on, I'm just asking 'cause I know she broke up with what's his face and I don't wanna scare her," F/n reasoned.
C/n, who had turned away from the other people sitting with him on the couch, butt into the conversation, "Bro, just talk to her."
F/n huffed and stood up straight from his leaning position. C/n quickly took the opportunity to rest his arm on the armrest where F/n was originally taking up space.
"Yeah, yeah. But her best friend's right here, so might as well feel it out first."
I laughed, "I mean, I get it, but I'm not gonna lie, I agree with C/n. You'll know whether or not she's interested, trust me."
F/n groaned, causing C/n and me to make eye contact and smile.
"Oh," F/n's eyes glanced between us, "I see what's really going on. Here Y/n, I'm gonna go get those shots; you can sit here."
F/n shoved C/n's arm off the armrest and patted the spot, indicating my new seat.
I scoffed, "That's way too small to be comfortable."
F/n shrugged and walked away, ambling for the kitchen. He was probably hoping he could run into B/f/n.
As I was about to take F/n's original spot and just lean on the couch, C/n sent me a smirk.
"There's space right here, Y/n."
I deadpanned, "Where? I'm not fitting on that skinny little armrest."
His smirk only widened as he patted his thighs, "Isn't this big enough right here?"
My eyes grew large as I raked them over his bottom half. I glanced at the people to the right of him who were taking up the rest of the space on the couch, but they were thankfully paying us no mind as they engaged in loud conversation.
"Funny," I responded sarcastically.
He shrugged, "If you wanna stand, that's up to you."
I laughed and shook my head. But hey, who am I to say friends can't help each other out like this? I mean, the thought of sitting taking up C/n's personal space doesn't make my heart race or anything.
Right?
"Wow, so kind of you."
The exasperation on my face went unreinforced as I took up his offer and went to perch sideways on his knees, my back facing the small group next to us. Right as I thought I'd made myself comfortable, I felt one of his arms reach around my hips.
"That can't be comfortable," he stated.
C/n tugged me closer to him, and I quickly grabbed onto his shoulders for support at the sudden movement. I couldn't help the giggle that escaped me as I shimmied a bit so I could sit up better.
"Christ, that was fast," F/n returned with 3 shot glasses in his hands and a bottle under his arm, "Teach me your ways C/n."
C/n opened his mouth, probably to make a snarky comment, but I spoke first.
"Shut up F/n, and just pour the shots."
He faked hurt but quickly began measuring the alcohol out anyway.
F/n held his glass out, "To a long and lasting relationship for the two of you."
I rolled my eyes, but held my glass out to his anyway. C/n wiggled his eyebrows at me, and the hand that was resting around his neck and on his shoulder wasted no time in giving him a light smack in retaliation.
I made a face after downing my drink and watched lazily as C/n and F/n started talking about something or another. Only a small amount of time had passed before my head dropped to C/n's shoulder as I let my weight sag against him. Alcohol always makes me sleepy, and as I felt my eyes drooping closed, C/n's gentle carressing against my side quickly lulled me into a nap.
"You want me to wake her up?"
Not sure how much time had passed, I vaguely heard B/f/n's voice.
"Nah. Just show me where she's gonna sleep tonight."
I blinked my eyes open at the realization that they were talking about me.
"Wow, already trying to get in my bed C/n?" I joked as I sat up.
I placed my hands on his shoulders, ready to use them as leverage so I could stand up and get off him. Before I could though, C/n brought an arm around my shoulder and another under my legs, hoisting me up as he stood from the couch.
"Hm," he pretended to think, "Not this time sleepyhead. Thanks for the offer though."
I shrugged, resting my head against his chest, deciding to just enjoy the ride.
B/f/n smirked at us but didn't make any comments.
"Just follow me, my room's this way."
C/n dutifully carried me to B/f/n's room and deposited me onto her bed. I shimmied under the covers, suddenly feeling a chill. B/f/n left her room without any acknowledgment besides the grumbling under her breath that C/n might as well stay to help clean up if he's gonna be my personal servant. I laughed, and C/n must not have caught her words since he shot me a confused smile.
"Nothing," I grinned.
He shook his head but bent down to drop a kiss on my forehead. A sickly sweet smile appeared on my face as I felt myself warm up.
"Goodnight, I'll see ya next time Y/n."
"Goodnight C/n."
Once reaching the door, he turned back one last time with another grin before leaving.
I really should've told him to stay and let B/f/n sleep on the couch.
