Y/n prayed that her shoelaces wouldn't magically untie as she sprinted for her life down her school's hallway. Finally making it to the stairwell, she took two steps at a time before jumping down the last five.

Passerbys would think she was late to receive a thousand bucks with the way she was racing through the school, but in reality, Y/n was entrusted with an errand by her teacher, and she wasn't the type to let people down. That errand was given during 1st period, and it was during the second-to-last class of the day when Y/n finally remembered she had yet to get it done. Checking her phone, Y/n panicked when she realized she only had 5 minutes left before the front office closed.

Just one hallway and two turns away when someone popped out from around the corner and stopped her in her tracks.

"Y/n," B/f/n said as she looked Y/n over, "What the hell are you running so fast for? If you're late for class you might as well just come skip with me."

Y/n sidestepped her friend and continued on her path, walking backwards so she could still face B/f/n.

"I gotta finish something first real quick," she huffed out as she took the moment to catch her breath.

"But that new place finally opened today! We should go before it gets crowded," B/f/n persuaded.

"Yeah, this will just take me a— AH!"

Y/n let out a yelp as she suddenly felt her leg give out from beneath her. Because she was walking backward, she hadn't seen the perfectly placed banana peel in her path and managed to trip on it. Flailing her arms out, she felt herself falling backward, but there was nothing for her to grab onto. Y/n cursed loudly, but a second later, she was pleasantly surprised to find herself crashing into a much softer object than the concrete ground.

"That had to be on purpose," C/n spoke exasperatedly. "Who the fuck leaves their trash in the middle of the hallway like that?!"

He held Y/n by the waist as he pulled her upright into a standing position, naturally holding her close against his body for her to lean on. He looked up and down the hallway as if the person who left the peel was still around, missing the expression of surprise on Y/n's face.

Still distracted by the idea of catching the culprit, C/n gave Y/n enough time to stabilize herself as she swung an arm around his shoulders.

"Thanks C/n, you're a lifesaver!"

She grinned at him before giving him a quick peck on the cheek, and just like that, Y/n was sprinting off once again.

"I'll text you when I'm done B/f/n!" she called over her shoulder, not once looking back as she was determined to complete her task.

C/n, baffled and embarrassed, rubbed a hand over his face. He bent down to throw the banana peel in the trash as B/f/n was reduced to giggles behind him.

"Seriously, keep a better eye on her," C/n complained.

B/f/n innocently batted her eyelashes, "But then what would that leave you with?"
