11|dreams and betrayal

"Hange." Lillian sighed as she glanced over at her friend. "I had a dream a while back and I can't stop thinking about it."

"If it's a sex dream with Levi I don't want to hear about it." Hange chuckled before glancing at the woman and wiggling her eyebrows. "But if it's about me."

"You wish." She giggled before sitting on the edge of her bed and looking up at the woman checking her scarred eye in the mirror. "I had a dream I went to the beach with you and Levi. But Erwin, Isabel and Farlan where there."

"Oh." The Commander fixed her patch and sat beside her friend on the bed. "Continue."

"It was so realistic." Lilly sighed, glancing at her son playing by the doorway. "Levi and I weren't dating though and the more I think about this stupid dream the worse my panic attacks are. Erwin reassured me it wasn't my fault, Isabel and Farlan thanked me for being their friend and then Eren appeared telling me I hadn't failed. Hange, what if I dreamed about everyone who is going to die. I know it sounds stupid and I can't possibly see the future but there was something about this dream that seemed like a warning."

"We're Scouts, we didn't sign up for long lives." Hange said grimly, wrapping her arm around the freaked out woman. "But Levi and I, we're going to stick around for a while whether you like it or not but with everything that's about to happen. I don't want to feed you false hope."

"Levi is indestructible." Lillian chuckled and wiped away her tears. "He could be blown up and walk away with a few scars."

"You got a good one, Lilly." The pair stared off out the window, watching the trees in the distance move with the slight breeze. "I'm jealous."

"You had a good one." The doctor reminded her friend. "Molbit cared about you so much. He was always by your side till the end and that scar is a reminder of how deeply he loved you."

"I wish I told him sooner."

"He knew. I know he knew."

"Remy is safe with Historia." Lillian informed her friend as they rode to the main building. "So there are no distractions."

"You're not going near action." Hange said darkly, shooting the blonde woman a scary warning look.

"We want an explanation, Hange!" A civilian shouted at the two women as they tried to enter the main building.

"Go ahead." Lilly nodded and pushed the gates open, sneaking into the building and standing beside Armin as they all waited for the Commander.

The door creaked open, Hange entered the room seeming exhausted as she addressed the four Scouts.

"You're the ones who leaked the info about Eren?" Hange looked over the soldiers. "Holger, Wim, Louise. You three recruits, and Floch. Why did you do it?"

"Because Eren should be freed. He hasn't done anything wrong." Floch narrowed his eyes at his Commander. "He challenged an imposing enemy and grasped victory. Victory in the form if the rumbling, which secures our right to live. Eren saved the lives of everyone in the New Eldian Empire."

"There's no guarantee that the rumbling works as planned and can save us." The Commander reminded him. "At this point, it's no more than a myth."

"Only because you're keeping Eren locked up." The boy argued back at her. "Do we really have the luxury of wasting time? At this rate, our victory will be squandered. Eren Jaeger will lead our country. Please, release him at once."

"Yeah, you might just be right about that." Hange agreed, a strange look in her eye. "One way or another, I made the decision to carry out Zeke's plan. The full responsibility is mine. Therefore, I won't tolerate disobedience. You will be tried for leaking information about Eren. Have them confined."

"If it's for the sake of humanity, so be it." Floch mumbled to himself, sighing with frustration.

Everyone left the room but Hange stayed in her seat. Lillian shut the doors once everyone had left, staying quiet as she let her friend get lost in her thoughts.

"I'm pooped." Hange sighed after releasing her emotions. She dropped her head, staring at her shoes.

"I don't blame you." Lilly walked up behind her, wrapping her arms around her friends shoulders and embracing her. "I really don't blame you."

"Thank you, Lilly."

"Anytime."
