5|fallen friend

"Sasha, you need to stay awake." Lillian begged the girl, trying to stop the bleeding but no matter what she did the thick red liquid slipped through her finger. "Please, Sasha. You told me you were going to show me how to properly eat a pig."

Her glassy brown eyes stared up at the ceiling, lifeless as she held on to her last lifeline. Her heart rate was quickly slipping as her friends begged her to stay alive.

"Sasha, stay with us." Lilly continued, pressing her hands down on her heart, trying to keep it beating. "Please. Don't leave us just yet, you need to see us win. We need you to help us win."

"Lillian." Armin stopped her, tears falling down his cheeks as he looked down at the still woman. "She's gone."

"She can't be, not yet." She cried, falling back as she stared down at her blood covered hands. "I can save her. I am the best doctor in all three walls, I have to save her."

"Lillian." Mikasa stopped her this time, both looking at each other with blood shot eyes.

"I failed." She stumbled to her feet and followed Conny to where Levi was. She felt empty as they both stood in the doorway, all eyes going to them as the door creaked loudly.

"Sasha is dead." Conny stated in shock, a tear falling down his cheek as he stayed still.

"Lils." Levi mumbled as she fell into his arms, crying silently against his chest as he stroked her hair soothingly.

"Conny." Eren broke the silence. "Did Sasha have any last words?"

"She said "meat"." Conny revealed causing Eren to burst into laughter. A strange sound for such a grim moment.

Levi grabbed a cloth and tried to clean the blood off his wife's hands, the edges of her white cape staining red. The pair had both kept to tradition with their new uniforms, both adorning the wings of freedom on their capes.

"Eren. Sasha only died because you dragged the Scouts into this." Jean snapped at the boy.

"Remy." Lillian ran to her son, picking him up in her arms and holding him close. She fell to her knees, tearing up as her son patted her head. "Mummy missed you."

"I missed you too, mummy." Remy giggled, hugging his mother's head.

"Let's go home." She wiped away her tears and smiled down at the innocent child. "Thank you for looking after him, Historia."

"I hope it went successfully." Historia's smile fell from her face when she saw Lilly give her a grim look. "What happened?"

"We have Eren but Sasha didn't make it." Lilly informed her gravely, a lump growing in her throat as tears pricked her eyes.

"I'm so sorry." The pair quickly embraced, comforting each other over their lost friend.

"Lils, we need to get back." Levi interrupted the pair, their son in his arms.

"Right, sorry." She bowed at the Queen and thanked her once more before leaving with her husband. "We should have been there, we could have spotted the child before she shot Sasha."

"It's not your fault, stop blaming yourself for everyone." He stopped her, being stern as he knew she was being stubborn. Just like her brother.

"I had a dream before we went on the mission." Lillian hummed, leaning her head back against his chest. Remy was cuddled into her, falling asleep as they rode back to the old castle. "I saw Isabel, Farlan and Erwin."

"Isabel and Farlan?" Levi questioned, glancing down at her with worry.

"They told me to stop blaming myself." She chuckled grimly. "I was able to say a final good bye. I needed it."

"I've been telling you that for years." He pinched her side and smiled to himself over her pouted lips. "I want you to step back and relax for a few days."

"What? No!" Lilly tried to argue but he shut her down with a glare. "I will step back but I still need to help with the funeral, and Eren, and Historia."

"You're overworking yourself again." The two glanced at each other, both daring each other to keep arguing as they neared their home.

"Hagi!" Remy clapped loudly, the pair slowly glancing at Hange stood outside waiting for them.

"There's my favourite Godson!" Hange grabbed Remy and helped him off the horse, carrying him away as the couple walked together to the stable.

"Please, Levi." Lillian begged him, lighting a candle so he could see where to put his horse. "I can be helpful."

"Get on your knees." He commanded once he had put his horse away. She knew this was his way of letting her know she had won. A smirk made its way to her lips as she fell to her knees in front of him.
