Lillian held her white cape closer to her body as the rain fell heavily down on them. They were forced by Floch to ride horses to where Levi was keeping Zeke and although it was a dire situation, she was happy to see her husband again.

"What was that?" Floch questioned loudly as a familiar sounding explosion echoed from near them.

"Maybe lightening?" Hange and Lilly both glanced at each other, both thinking that it sounded more like a Thunder Spear going off.

"If we head toward the sound, we'll find something." The leader suggested causing the small group to change their course of direction.

Lillian watched Hange carefully, seeing the worry in her eyes meaning this was not the direction Zeke was being held in.

"What happened?"

"Be careful! Titan ahead!"

"There's body parts everywhere."

"That horse." Lilly jumped off her horse, hesitantly looking over to see if she could find Levi.

"Commander Hange! Doctor! Please don't run off like that!" A soldier warned the two women as they looked around with confusion.

"Did a carthorse get blown to pieces?" Hange questioned aloud before freezing, noticing a body in the river bank. "Man down! Hey! Are you alive?"

"Levi?" Lillian froze next to the Commander, tears falling from her eyes as she looked down at her husband. His face had a deep cut running from his forehead, across his eye and down to his chin. Bits of shrapnel poked out his cheeks.

"I don't know what happened here, but we got lucky." Floch stated as they soldiers joined them, staring down at the man with disgust. "Our biggest threat, covered in his own blood."

"I'll send a shot through his head." A soldier offered. Lillian was too emotional to fight them and instead kneeled beside Hange, cleaning the blood off his face.

"He's dead." Hange informed them causing them to lower their weapons. "He must have been hit by a Thunder Spear explosion at close range. I saw something similar in a training accident. He may not look it, but his organs are in shreds. He died immediately."

"I know how to take a pulse. Let me see him." Floch demanded, refusing to believe the Commander.

"I'm a fucking doctor, I think I know how to judge if someone is dead better than you." Lilly spat at him, refusing to let anyone near her husband. She could feel the light beating of his heart against her fingers and knew Hange could feel it too.

"Floch! Something's strange about that Titan!" A soldier stopped him from fighting the grieving woman as the Titan dispersed into a cloud of smoke.

"Is it disappearing? Did it die?"

"No. They don't normally suck steam into themselves when they disappear." Hange informed him, just as confused. They all raised their guns, prepared for what might happen. Except no one was expecting Zeke to step out the smoke, his eyes telling them he was just as confused.

Hange nodded to Lillian, indicating this time was the best to escape using the river. They boy jumped in, Levi held close as they swam under the water, avoiding the soldiers.

They set up camp in the large forest, Hange killing off any soldiers that continued to pursue them while Lillian cleaned Levi up. She gently pulled the shrapnel out his face and cleaned up the small wounds before moving on to the large cut across his face. Using the supplies Hange had salvaged from the camp where they held Zeke, she carefully stitched his face us, the tears still flowing.

"There's no one pursuing us now." Hange wandered over to her, sitting beside her as she continued to stitch. "Everyone got turned into Titans, but only he survived. It must be the same reasons that he can survive these injuries."

"It's because he is an Ackerman." Lilly nodded, finishing off her stitches before lifting up his hand and seeing his fingers missing. "My favourite two fingers as well."

"Seriously." The Commander chuckled grimly before sitting down and thinking about what to do. "Well, now what do we do? We can't stop Zeke on our own.

"We just have to count on Armin or Commander Pixis." She reassured her friend, tucking the blanket carefully over his body and kissed his forehead lovingly.
