"Even if Eren betrayed Zeke, if that means the Jaegerists will still use the spinal fluid to control this island, we'll be on the run here for the rest of our lives." Hange continued to ramble to herself as Lillian rubbed circles on her back. "It must be that our time has come. You might feel like you're doing the right thing, but times change and you find yourself in a cell. Maybe we should just live here all together. Right?"
"We will find a way through this." Lillian reassured her. "Alive."
"I'm going to try and fix this cart." She left the grieving woman with her husband, moving slightly away to try and fix the broken cart so they can move Levi around.
"You need to wake up, Levi." Lilly sighed, stroking his hair. "I haven't been able to tell you I'm pregnant again. I hope we have a girl this time. Someone Remy can protect and play with. I've been thinking of names."
A loud explosion rang through the forest, Hange and Lillian glancing at each other as they recognised the sound.
"Just now, was that the whole world, Eren." Hange stumbled over her words, continuing to fix the cart before freezing. "Levi?"
"A baby girl, huh?" He mumbled, glancing at his shocked wife as she started crying again. "The Beast, that piece of shit. Where is he?"
"Don't get up!" Lillian helped him lay back down again, fixing the blanket over his chest.
"Zeke went to Shiganshina District with the Jaegerists. Half a day has passed since then." Hange explained to him as she sat beside Lilly. "What happened?"
"I screwed up." Levi rasped out, his voice dry as he spoke. His face was wrapped entirely in bandage making his words sound muffled. "I want able to figure out that he was ready to die. I let him get away again."
"I'm sure you want your revenge, but for now-" The Commander sighed, looking down as he cut her off.
"If we keep running and hiding, what will that get us?" He questioned, looking at his missing fingers.
"Oh, you heard us talking?"
"What're you making?" Levi awkwardly pointed at the cart. "That? You're going to pull me by horse? I know you, you're not able to stay out of action."
"Yeah, that's right. I can't." Hange chuckled, rubbing the back of her neck. "I'll leave you two to talk."
"You made me cry." Lilly snapped at him, pouting as she looked away.
"I know." He reached up and cupped her face with his good hand. "I'm sorry."
"No, I'm sorry. You had to kill your comrades." She leaned into his hand and moved the bandage away from his mouth, gently kissing his lips as he held her close.
"Where's Remy?" Levi asked as he glanced around, hoping his wife did not take him with her.
"Safe with Historia." Lilly reassured him, laying down so her head was resting on his heart. "After this we are retiring with Hange. We have a family to care for."
"I know." He sighed, stroking her hair as the exhaustion hit him. "I promise we can step back from the action after this is all over."
"Thank you." She kissed his jaw where she knew he had no cuts.
"I have more fingers." He gave her a smug look through the bandages. She exhaled sharply, pursing her lips as she glared at him.
"I don't need your fingers." Lillian ran her fingers down his chest. "And when I said I like when you get scars, this is taking it a bit too seriously."
"How bad is it?" Levi asked her seriously, raising his hand to gently touch where the cuts were.
"You have a deep cut going through your eye and another one beside it. You might be an Ackerman but I doubt you'll ever be able to use that eye again." She informed her softly, stroking the bandage as she looked down at him.
"I'm back." Hange announced as she walked over to them, sitting beside the couple.
"Yeah, I refuse to join the "one eye" club." Lilly laughed as her eyes darted between the pair. "I quite like my blue eyes."
"The world would end if you ever lost one of your eyes." The Commander joked as she fixed her eye patch. "You and Erwin may have been hugely different in appearance but you both share the same eyes."
"I got the looks." She winked with a chuckle. "He was tall, I'm small. My hair is a lighter shade of blonde and my eyebrows are much thinner. Thank the Gods."
