Chapter 11: Tension

“Mr. Howlett, the principle would like to see you and Miss Dwight in his office if you have a moment.” A voice said over the intercom.

“What did you do Sir?” Someone asked as Logan rolled his eyes and held the door open for Saya.

“I bet he slept with her.” One of the girls whispered loudly. Logan grinned at the girl and winked.

“Maybe.” He said over his shoulder as the door closed behind him. Saya laughed as they walked down the hall and bumped against him affectionately.

They had reached the point where they were reveling in the schools attempts to incriminate them. They had mastered the art of walking that delicate line between acceptable and not and relished in the thrill of it.

It was clear to everyone, from the teasing way she said ‘sir’ to how his eyes never left her’s in a class discussion, that there was something more between them. They were always too close, too personal, too passionate. The heat between them was almost palpable.

It was so bad in fact that the whole school was now in an uproar. Other girls wanted that kind of intensity and, when their boyfriends could not provide it, began to focus their attention on members of staff. The boys, sensing this as an opportunity, were taking full advantage of this new need . You could hardly walk down a hallway now days without seeing a couple making out, or open up a closet without finding some half-dressed teens in it.

The school was going completely insane, and at the heart of it were Saya and Logan. The instigators, the ring leaders, the ever present source of lust and electricity that seemed to be overtaking the school. It was as if the students were attempting to ease the tension between them by acting on it themselves.

The trouble was that nobody knew what to do about it. Saya and Logan never did anything so wholly inappropriate as to warrant reprimand, and yet between them there was something unmistakably explicit. Something that just screamed ‘unethical’.

And so, as Saya and Logan walked down the hall together, they couldn’t help but wonder what the school was up to this time. They had been called into the principles office countless times over the past two weeks and yet not once had anything ever come of it. They were too sly and composed. Nothing could get to them and nothing was compelling enough to stick without their compliance.

“Please,” Mr. Dayton, the principle, said as Saya and Logan walked into his office. “Have a seat.”

Logan and Saya did as he asked, sitting on the cushy leather love seat near the door and grinning  deviously at him. They knew it was bothering him, and they were loving it.

To their surprise though, the man returned their grin with a smirk of his own. Saya’s eyes flashed eagerly and tilted her head to the side. She had grown to adore these bi-weekly meetings. She loved matching her wit against his and jumping through hoops to come up with feasible lies.

“Mr. Howlett, Miss Dwight,” Dayton said, standing up and walking around his desk so he was standing in front of them. “As you two very well know, you have been the subject of much grief over these past few weeks. You two have single handedly-

“Double-handedly sir,” Logan corrected with a smirk. “There are two of us.”

Double-handedly,” Dayton gritted. “Managed to throw the whole school into an uproar. Students who have never posed any problem-”

“A problem, Sir.” Saya said.

“Or any problems.” Logan added.

Any problems then,” He continued, becoming more and more agitated by the second. “Have been acting out and causing all sorts of problems for us!”

Logan and Saya nodded and smiled.

“Ya,” Saya said, leaning back into the couch, her shoulder touching Logan’s. “We have noticed that, but what do we have to do with it? It’s not like we’ve been making out in closets or anything.”

At those words the principles grin nearly doubled and he walked back towards his desk, pulling something out of a drawer and waving it victoriously through the air.

“Actually,” He said, his voice dripping with satisfaction. “You have.”

Logan and Saya reactions were mirrored, almost as if they had rehearsed it. They sat up, scowled, and looked at each other with their heads cocked to the side. What on earth was he talking about?

“You see,” The principle went on. “I decided to review our schools security tapes because of the outrageous number of incidences as of late, and can’t you imagine my surprise when I found this, from about 3 weeks ago. From the very day in fact, that you were attacked Miss Dwight.”

He placed the tape into the VCR player as he spoke and Logan and Saya watched with carefully disguised horror as Saya was pulled into a closet by Logan and, moments later, they re-emerged looking slightly more disheveled than they had before they entered. Dayton grinned wickedly at them and sat back down at his desk, leaning back in his chair smugly.

“It gets better,” He said, not even bothering to hid the glee in his voice. “You see, technology today is such a wonderful things! Did you know you can enhance the audio on a tape?”

Logan and Saya looked at each other, both visibly paler than when they had entered the room.

“You can’t deny it any longer can you Howlett? You and Dwight went too far and you got caught!”

Logan turned to Saya and she nodded, standing up and walking over to the VCR.

“It won’t matter,” Dayton said, predicting what he was going to do and smiling delightedly. “We have a copy, it’s locked up in the school safe, not to mention the footage saved on the camera's memory.”

Saya turned to him and raised an eyebrow.

“You have that many.” She asked, her eyes wide, feigning fear.

“That’s right,” Dayton said, buying the act. “And on Monday the tape will be delivered to the police station. Enjoy your week of freedom Howlett, it’s going to be your last for a long time.”

As Logan and Saya walked back towards the classroom they couldn’t help but grin as they spotted the very camera that had captured them 3 weeks ago.

“It’s going to be easy.” Logan said, draping his arm over her.

“Too easy.” Saya grinned.

[A/N: So, what did you think? ^^ Kinda a pick me up after last chapter. Just FYI, I actually planned from the beginning for this to be a 20 chapter book, so I don’t want you to be too discouraged. I also don’t want you to be too worried, I wouldn’t call this a romance if it weren’t. There is plenty Logan/Saya to come my duckies! So: Read, Rate, and Review!]
