Chapter 4: Had Enough
A few weeks had passed since Saya’s first day at Scarlet Academy and she had adjusted well enough to her new life. She hadn’t made any real friends yet; but that might be for lack of trying. She was friendly enough with her classmates before and after class, but in all likelihood she would never see them outside of school of her own accord. She had; however, developed an odd bond with Logan Howlett, her European History and Lit. teacher. He was her first period teacher on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and her last period teacher on Tuesdays and Thursdays. He was also the closest thing she had to a neighbor and it wasn’t uncommon for him to give her a ride to and from school on rainy days such as this.
Logan growled to himself, tapping furiously on the dashboard of his Ferrari as the rain pelted down on the roof of his new car.
“Well folks, it looks like Meeting Street has flooded, and Main Street is soon to follow. Once again, it is highly recommended that you stay indoors and avoid driving whenever possible-”
“Oh, shut up!” Logan snarled hitting the power button on the radio. He glared over at Saya, narrowing his eyes.
“I blame you for this.” He said darkly. The corner of Saya’s mouth twitched with amusement as she glanced casually over at him.
“I appreciate the confidence, but we haven’t covered weather working yet at Hogwarts. Though we underaged wizards are prone to accidental spurts of magic, so I suppose it could be my fault.”
Saya said with a shrug, and the tiniest hint of sarcasm in her voice.
“If you hadn’t been late-” He started.
“-If you hadn’t been early.” She corrected. Logan growled again as the light turned green and another bolt of lightening split the sky in half.
“You know what, screw this!” He said making a sharp U-turn in the intersection and heading back towards Saya’s house. Saya shot him a worried look and he shook his head.
“It’s been raining all damn week and I’m sick of it! We’re going to the beach!” He said.
“The beach? But that a 6 hour drive from here!” Saya exclaimed.
“Not if we go to Charleston, its only 4 hours away. Besides, its a Friday, we’ve got the whole weekend. We’ll trade in 8 hours of driving for 40+ hours of vacation.” He said determinedly, stopping in front of Saya’s house.
“Get what you need, I’ll be back in 45 minutes. If your not ready when I get here, I’m leaving without you.” He said.
An hour later they were back in the car and outside the city limits, making their way towards Charleston, SC and laughing.
“You do realize,” Saya said, grinning and shaking her head. “That this is pure insanity right? I mean if we get caught...”
“Darlin’ if we get caught on a beach, in another state, by anyone who knows us; I’ll take it as an act of divine intervention and spend the rest of my life as a hermit preaching peace on earth and good will towards men!” Logan said, grinning at her. Saya smiled back and leaned into the cushy leather seats, watching the scenery go by.
“I might just hold you to that.” She said serenely. Logan turned to her, a suave smirk splayed across his lips.
“Darlin’, you can hold me to anything you like.” He said suggestively. Saya shivered and glanced at him,
“Now Sir, it’s not nice to tease.” She said in a sultry voice.
“Who said I was teasing?” He asked, looking her in the eye and smiling temptingly.
This ... was going to be a long and dangerous weekend.
[A/N: So, little time skip there! I’ve found that if I don’t use time skips the story ends up becoming long and drawn out with no ending in sight! If I had planned for anything significant to happen during that time it would have been my skip point (I.E. The point at which I resume telling the story and/or start the chapter). BTW, the fact they are going down to the beach in Charleston has NOTHING to do with the fact I live there. I was actually quite surprised to find out that the nearest beach to Asheville is my hometown, who would have guessed? Either way: Read, Rate, and Review!]
