Nevada’s P.O.V

Only 12 bruises this time. I counted each violet bump on my arms as if they were my trophies. I still couldn’t believe that I attacked Jeff the way I did. Such force, such anger…I didn’t like that side of me. I felt lethal grabbing Jeff’s neck; every second that had gone by created a tighter grip on him. I could have really hurt him. Or worse, I could have killed him…

“Neva? Can I come in?” Jeff barged through the bedroom doors without even attempting to knock. Idiot.

“You’re already in.” I got up off the bed heading towards his arms. Embracing Jeff is certainly one of my favorite past times. He was always so cold. Shivering even when sitting directly in front of a fireplace.

“You should stay in bed; I can’t have you wandering around this place weak and weary. Berth would murder me.” Jeff nibbled on my neck as he spoke. I didn’t care much for what rules Bertha created for me. Right now, I just wanted to spend every waking moment making up for the time I wasn’t with Jeff.

“Anyways, I came in here to ask if you needed anything…I was going to head out for a bit and…” Before Jeff uttered another sentence I backed away from his embrace pulling him onto the bed beside me.

“You’re not leaving me here alone in this…place.” I sat on his chest with my arms folded across my breast.

“Neva. You do realize that nothing could possibly happen to you here? You’re safe.” Jeff gently pulled me off of him sitting upward to face me.

“But you always say that and then you leave. How do I know if you’re ever going to come back? I thought that probably today we could have actually spent some time together…” I pouted pushing myself away from him and towards the head board of the mattress.

“Alright. I’ll tell you what, I’ll go tomorrow morning.” Jeff sped up in my direction grabbing my waist then hovering over my body with a lustful look in his eyes.

“And when I come back, I’ll have a special surprise just for you. Trust me Neva this time I’m never going to disappear. This time I’m staying.” His eyes calmed as he laid onto my stomach. I ran my fingers through his jet black hair smiling. How could I ever picture hurting this guy? He’s all that I have now and honestly, I’m perfectly fine with that.

“I love you Jeff.” I mumbled interrupting the silence.

“I know that already…are you okay Nevada?” He meticulously stopped my hand for a moment glaring into my pearly eyes.

“Yeah. I just wanted to let you know. Sometimes I feel as though I’m a bit of a bitch towards you, but it’s only because I care so much about you. I don’t mean to be such a bother …” I cracked a half smile at him, but his facial expression remained still as cool as a cucumber.

“Nevada…I can’t wait for you to see your surprise tomorrow.” He smiled back but his with more sincerity. I continued playing with his hair. What could he have possibly came up with in the past five minutes? I swear, sometimes he’s just…

“Oh yeah... and Nevada?” I glance back at his pale face startled.

“I love you too.” He kissed my stomach laughing.

Mark’s P.O.V

I’m alive…well at least sort of. But Jane is starting to fuck with my emotions. When awaking my sprit she promised me my full mortal body back for the small price of finding Jeff and Nevada for her. Now that I have she is asking for yet another request. One that I may not be able to complete…

“There is no way I’m going to kill Nevada!”  I yelped at Jane who sat upon a bloody skull covered throne. We were surrounded by fallen spirits who all sold their souls to her for some small “price” but in the end, they all failed to complete their payments. The walls surrounding this underground death trap leaked murky dirt water. The place sent tremors down my spine, yet I stood my ground in front of this false empress of death.

“My dear boy…don’t you see? Nevada has fallen in love with that wretched monster Jeff. If there is anything I should know is that Jeff has a way with the ladies…” She paused standing up from her resting place. “Killing her would be your only way of ever getting her back. With Nevada dead, Jeff will crumble straight into my hands and once he does…I’ll bring your precious Nevada back from the dead so the two of you could live together in the mortal world…wouldn’t you like that?”  Jane vehemently smiled in my direction. Of course I would like that, I would love that! But Jane isn’t one to keep her word.

“How are you so sure that Nevada would want to come back to me after I kill her?” I challenged Jane who was now suspended over my head.

“Once I awaken her from death, I will erase all her memory of Jeff. The furthest thing she will be able to remember is the very last thing she did before she met him. Which I’m sure you could mash up a story to tell her so that nothing appears to her as “missing”.” As Jane ceased speaking I contemplated everything she said. It’s true she has the ability to do this, I’ve seen her do it to the spirit’s right here in this cave…but I still wasn’t absolutely sure about the whole idea. Murder…Nevada?

“Okay, I’ll do it. But how am I going to get to her without Jeff interfering?” Jane grinned as far as her grim face could stretch.

“Oh! You’re not alone…I’ll be there as well and I have brought one other source who was very willing to fight this battle with us…peasants! Bring her in!” The spirits opened up the chained portal revealing a beautiful red haired girl with flames igniting from her finger tips.

“Mark! I want you to meet a good friend of mine.” Jane gazed at the girl in amazement…

            “MELODY.”
