Nevada’s P.O.V

“Now we are going to have a few words from one of his close friends…Nevada Fanning.”

I watched as the gray haired priest nodded for me to come up to the podium. My spit dehydrated, I couldn’t even concentrate.

He’s really gone.

I stumbled towards the podium and held the microphone. My hands are so freaking sweaty…ok.

“Um…hello everyone…” I glanced at all the emotionless faces sitting in the crowd. I can’t do this…not now.

“My name is Nevada, I am…used to be a close friend to Elijah…” my palms shook.

“Most of you here didn’t know him much…I guess nobody ever really knows anyone anyways…” everyone shifted in their seats.

“I just wanted to say I love Eli. He was such a great person…and he didn’t deserve to die like that. He didn’t deserve to die period…” I took a long meaningful glance at his casket. Then at Jeff, who sat in the front row as if he cared about anyone but his fucking self.

“…But you want to know something guys…he could have been saved, but instead that person felt just a bit too selfish to help anyone…Jeff.”

“Nevada! That’s enough!” Jeff screamed at my direction but I kept speaking.

“Why Jeff? This is your entire fault, don’t you see…everything is your damn fault. I can’t believe I was so stupid to fall for an idiot like you. It should be you in that fucking casket not Eli...” I felt arms attempt to drag me away from the podium, but I remained glaring a bullet into Jeff’s forehead.

“…I wish that day those bullies set you on fire you would have just perished…at least the world would finally be in peace…” I stood with tears burning the two day old cuts on my lips.

“Peace? You think without me you’d be in fucking peace? I’m tired of you pulling this shit Nevada. I saved you that day! Remember? when your precious boyfriend was beating the crap out of you? I’ll let you in on a secret, I deliberately had his name put on my list to feed because he was going to murder you that day…” my mouth dropped open as everyone else’s in the crowd.

“No.”I mumbled loud enough for only mosquitoes to hear.

“…and you want to know why I did that? Because I saw something in you. I couldn’t explain what I felt but I wanted you in my life. I knew you had something special about you…but since you obviously don’t feel the same, I’ll just disappear.” I glimpsed as Jeff speeded into the forest leaving his knife on the seat behind him.

4 Hours Later…

Greyson helped me clean up after the funeral ended. I had placed Jeff’s knife in my purse hoping that no one saw.

“…what are you planning on doing with his knife?” I quickly tilted my head around to face Greyson smirking at me.

“Why are you smiling at me? …and how did you know I …”

“Well, it’s obvious you guys still love each other…and I saw you pick it up.” He kept the smirk on his face as he spoke.

“…You really don’t know how to mind your own damn business do you?” I sat crossed legged on the semi-dry grass.

“You know Nevada…people make mistakes sometimes. When the world begins to seem perfect like a straight line that’s when people start to fall out of it.” He plopped down in front of me.

“Don’t you think I know that? I have forgiven Jeff several times in the past…but sleeping with Melody…well I just can’t.” I laid my hands over my purse.

“When you love someone, you have to love them and their whole package…did you and Jeff ever just sit down and talk about what happened…”

“I saw it with my own eyes! I didn’t need an explanation…”

“Sometimes it’s not about what you see, just how you see it.”

“Greyson, what the fuck are you blabbing about?” I pressed my back into the grass still clutching my purse.

“All I’m saying is you can’t just rid yourself of someone you love because of a mistake, no matter how horrible it is. At the end of the day, Jeff did what he did for a reason. Maybe it was a freaking stupid immature ass reason, but it was still a reason. From what I have seen Jeff is more than infatuated with you. You both just need to have a long conversation about everything.” Greyson grabbed both my arms and pulled me up to be face to face with him.

“…Besides, I need Jeff so I could find Slenderman.”

I tussled him to the ground giggling hysterically. Maybe Grey’s right. I do love Jeff…but how are we going to fix all of this. I hurt him…he probably hates my guts right now. I don’t even know where he is.

“…You’re the best Greyson…you really are.” I wrapped my arms around his broad shoulders squeezing him senseless.  I felt him grasp my waist squeezing me back.

            “You are too…”
