TW: PHYSICAL ASSAULT/DOMESTIC VIOLENCE/VERBAL ABUSE

June POV:

I was currently at my part-time job working at a convenience store near my place. It wasn't the most enjoyable job, but it wasn't horrible either. I got to meet lots of interesting people and also get discounts on certain items.

It had been a few minutes since a customer walked in, so I decided to plug in my earphones and play some music to pass the time. I was getting really into my jam session when I felt my earbuds get forcefully yanked out of my ears.

"What the f-"

I was like a deer in headlights. I thought that I could push this problem to the back of my mind and I would never have to think about it again. But here she was in front of me. Her eyes boiling with anger and my heart almost stopping right in my chest.

"You son of a bitch. Remember me?! Your GIRLFRIEND? The one who's always been there for you through thick and thin?!"

Say something! Say anything!

I tried my hardest to form a word but no sound came out. I was stuck there stunned by Mia's presence before me. I knew that things were going too well. Something always had to come and fuck things up.

"What? Don't you have anything to say? You had the balls to try and break up with me, but can't even spit a fucking word out. You're just a coward and are nothing without me."

Before I could even try to force myself to speak Mia had already come around the check out counter and now stood right near me. My whole body shook and my hands began to grow clammy. Without a second thought Mia had forced her hands tightly around my throat.

What am I doing? I'm stronger than her....I can push her off...

I weakly clawed at her hands, for some reason still holding my strength back. I guess some part of me still remembered that she was a woman and I was man.

"How many times do I have to say it, for your peasize brain to fucking remember? You belong to me. I OWN you."

"...p-please..." I squeaked out as tears began to brim my eyes.

"You still think you have a say in this? You are dumber than I thought. Guess I'm just gonna have to beat some sense into you."

After those words my brain had blacked out. I didn't even try fighting back. What good would it do me? I defend myself and she lies saying that I attacked her first? It wasn't worth it. I was better off just letting her get her anger out and then trying to never run into her again.

Eventually, Mia felt I'd had enough and left the store without another word. I sat huddled up near the wall clutching my bloody and bruised face. The tears that I had been trying my hardest to hold back had already began streaming down my face. The salty taste of my tears was accompanied by a metallic taste in my mouth, most likely from the blood.

I realized I couldn't stay at work looking like this, so I decided on just leaving and messaging my boss that an emergency came up. Hopefully he'd understand.

I struggled off of the floor and gripped the side of my torso. Mia had landed a few kicks in my ribcage. I never would go to the hospital for situations like this, but I felt like if I didn't I would probably suffer long term injuries. I locked up the store and entered my car, still clutching my sides. The pain hurt like hell, but it was slightly numbed by the shock of it all. Sitting in the driver's seat I was getting ready to start the car, when my vision suddenly blurred. Before I knew it everything went black.
