The moon Army orbits the planet Gliese 667C in the system of the star Gliese 667. This system doesn't have a planet inhabiting life but the moon which we have named Army has enough mass to constitute an atmosphere with acceptable levels of methane and co2. It has a distance of 1.17 AU to the star. Gliese is a K class star which means it gives off less luminosity, because of the planet's ellipse there are four hundred seven days in a year. The hours are about twenty two hours in a day, it has more centripetal gravity than earth at about 1.12.
Army has a rocky surface, vegetation doesn't grow on the moon's. It only grows in the seas littering Army's surface, where there are primitive underwater ecosystems which do not harbor any animals.
In terms of development there are two large cities on the left side of the moon in a colonized tourist country. It keeps imports and exports going to provide resources to the army.
The primordials own a mining quarry which makes the army's income when we are not off fighting wars for some odd decades. Our side of the moon we have a large city situated in the center where the high ranked military officers live. It spreads out from there, each legion their own town. The city is made up of large block buildings with many windows, to provide light to the dark moon.
The ones that are taller are housing for the soldiers, the sprawling buildings around them are the training centers. There are fields that go on for miles where the army has training exercises. Overall we have around 1 billion members. There are many different races of sentients in one place, the discrimination is heavy if your legion does not perform well in the annual smackdown competition.
Typically each legion is divided by species but there are some exceptions.
Sol and I teleported to headquarters, in the center of the legion towns, in the center of the city there is a giant skyscraper. It is headquarters, capable of housing half the army, provided the legions stay in their own barracks. The top levels were housing for the generals.
After all, the city had to host the entire army for a month each year, which we called the smackdown. I was at the top, Supervisor General, under me there are my four generals. Under them commanders of a region report back and keep tabs on specific missions in the area. Under them there are sergeants which lead their individual legion. After that each legion decides their chain of command. In the smackdown it is a week of fighting, obstacle courses, and team drills. Win and your legion moves up in the rankings. It was hard work because with the blessing you get when you join you have increased strength and stamina. The higher legions are tasked with the more important and risky missions. Currently the humans, which are one of the smallest we have, is ranked tenth out of around ten million legions.
Each legion picks a champion and that champion competes in the individual competitions, the whole team works in the team exercises. Typically each legion picks their sergeant but injuries can make others participate instead.
Some legions are thousands large, while some like the humans are around fifteen people. They are situated on the outskirts of the territory and it will take them a while to catch a train after they receive a mission request.
I turned to Sol after Chaos left, he had dropped us off in my penthouse, the highest floor of the scraper. "Can you run down to mission command and put in a mission request for legion Terra?"
He grinned in return, "Sure Amy, daily dose of cardio down the thousands of floors on the stairs."
I returned the smile, we had made a competition of sorts in my family about a decade ago where we all ran down the flights of stairs at headquarters daily, whoever has the current best time doesn't have to do any chores for the week. I was the current victor and I smirked at him. "Don't fall on the way down," I taunted.
He made a rude gesture as he jogged to the stairs and out the side door.
I took a look around seeing as I hadn't been here in a couple weeks. The neat and polished room was exactly as I left it, the large window taking up most of the floor. No real wall between anything but my bedroom and the bathroom. The walls were painted white with small earth designs everywhere. It was a pet project of mine that had filled up the walls over the years. In the center there was a large couch with a couple armchairs and a very very large bookcase. In the left corner stood an open space, yoga mats and weights lining the walls. There was a punching bag in the corner but I didn't use it much. On the right was a large rack of every weapon you could think of, and many of them in different materials from different planets.
My favorite sword, earthshaker, was made of void metal with a purple army iron embellished handle designed to look like rising vines.
To my left there stood a large kitchen which I baked in occasionally but not nearly enough. Gemini has an affiliation for food, and most of the family trickles down to her apartment for meals. Even if our fridges were magically stocked with any produce we might need. Gemini was pure magic, she could eat ten tons of food and never gain a pound. Her stomach is a black hole, despite not being the daughter of Tartarus.
Strode over to my bedroom and opened the door, cringing. While the rest of my apartment I kept clean for any guests, no one was allowed in my absolute disaster of a room. It looked like a tornado mixed with a magical hurricane blew through the room, leaving haphazard piles of clothes and random papers everywhere. It would be enough to make Gemini faint, the clean freak.
I sat down on the bed, which was the only clear space in my room and thought about what Nyx's betrayal would mean for the council. Will any of my aunts and uncles ally with her?
I was interrupted by my thoughts from a thump sounding in the main room. I looked out the door and noticed Gemini with her mother. I quickly hurried out of my room so she didn't indeed faint at the state it was in, or worse, make me clean it.
Her mother disappeared and I got a good look at her face. I could tell she did not want to talk about it so I informed her of the current proceedings.
Using the technology imported from the system Alpha Centauri A we had holographic communicators which worked much like a human phone. However that is where the similarities stop, the holograph is projected midair from a bracelet or watch, depending on which model you got. I had a custom vine bracelet and I hit one of the leaves to get it working. A message from Sol said he had sent the request and it had been received. Legion Terra should be arriving in about one earth hour, packed and ready for a long trip. As if he knew we were speaking about him he pounded up the stairs and into the room.
"So what do you want to do for an hour?" He asked.
I shrugged, "we could go check on the Gold Legion."
Gemini grinned and nodded.
