Spearow glared at his avian adversary, receiving similar treatment from her. Tension hung in the air as both the trainers were looking at each other with intense stares while their Pokémon remained airborne and in the same position.

"Pidgey, Gust!" Blue broke the tension and thus declared the start of an aerial dogfight with his first command.

"Dodge with Tailwind!" Red retaliated in an equally determined voice.

Pidgey hovered back a bit, creating more distance between herself and her foe before harshly flapping her wings to create a successful gale of sharp winds aimed for her opponent. The latter summoned a series of similar winds behind him to increase his speed tenfold in order to dodge and hover away from the line of attack. Spearow gained a considerable height while dodging the gust of winds.

Then at the very next moment, Spearow's beak began glowing as he descended down at his foe in full speed to deliver a hard hit. At Blue's hasty command, Pidgey's wings glowed and a clash of beak against wings followed. The two Flying-types flew away from each other after a few clashes, creating the same distance between them once again.

"Good work, now keep up the pressure with Pursuit!" Red hollered, excitement evident in his voice.

"Quick Attack!"

Spearow's body frame became enveloped in a purple glow before he charged forward at his opponent but all he saw was a white blur before he was rammed in by Pidgey who was suddenly much more quicker and faster than him. The force of the attack nearly sent him falling to the ground before he regained his balance mid fall and took to the skies again.

"Not a bad performance Red, but we all know who the victor is going to be." Blue said in his usual smug and arrogant tone before issuing his next command. "Wing Attack!"

Pidgey's wings glowed once again before she dove in and began striking her opponent repeatedly, and trying to knock him out and down on the ground. Spearow had dodged the first few strikes but when Pidgey increased her speed and attacked in random patterns, dodging became a challenge for him.

"Use Peck!" Red ordered out in a bit of desperation.

Spearow's beak glowed in the same white glow as Pidgey's wings when she was turned around for another successive strike. Spearow shot up right before her wings could make contact with him and then made an u-turn dive to strike right on her back. The force of the attack was much more than she anticipated and it nearly sent her plummeting to the ground.

"Finish this with Pursuit!" Red commanded seeing a chance for himself to get this match under the bag.

"Gust on the ground!" Blue instructed, his mind formulating a quick strategy.

Pidgey did as she was commanded and flapped her wings downwards towards the ground. The air waves formed helped her push her up instead of plummeting downwards and saved her from a devastating defeat. Following Blue's next command, Pidgey raced towards Spearow, a white trail following her before she rammed into him. Spearow couldn't tank anymore and fell down to the ground defeated, with swirls in his eyes.

"I told ya that the match is in the bag." Blue had his cocky smirk plastered on his face, extending his right hand out where Pidgey sat to relax for a while.

Red didn't say anything and silently recalled his fainted Spearow back in his spherical abode. Taking a deep breath, he clipped Spearow's pokéball back on his belt before unclipping the one next to it.

The familiar orange lizard materialized from the other pokéball and already took a battling stance, sensing the tension around him. Blue anticipated the outcome if he let Pidgey handle this round as well so he recalled her and instead let out his Squirtle. Both the starters glared at each other, seeming glad at having a round two of their never ending competition.
