Piece Of The Puzzle
Date: "Kazama?"
(L/n): "I don't know, he told me to go after Kiryu but he's tough so I'm hoping for the best."
Date: "But the ten billion Kazama mentioned, and this Yumi... What was he trying to tell you?"
Kiryu: "I wish I knew."
(L/n): "Don't think we'll get the chance to ask for a long while after what happened."
I sigh leaning on the taking a few peeks through the window. Date's one of those cops that can't let that "one" case go, respectful in some cases but he's dealing yakuza now.
Kiryu: "Date-san, why did you save me?" Date pulled a card out of his pocket before sliding it over to Kiryu, "Division Four... You're in organized crime now?"
Date: "Ten years ago, the Dojima murder... I stepped out of line on that case and then... I got demoted to babysitting punk yakuza. I'm just like you, a nuisance to the organization now. Thanks to you... My whole life got derailed."
(L/n): "Ah the three misfits of Kamurocho, what a lovely trio we make."
Date: "You, (L/n), right?" I nod, "Heard you're just a Kazama grunt, how'd you get involved with Kiryu-san?"
(L/n): "Got an assignment to hang with him, first it was to guide him around town now it's just to stick by. Sorry about pointing a gun at you by the way."
Date: "Heh, don't worry about it, in the end, you pulled through I guess but back to the matters at hand. I'm currently investigating the murder of Third Chairman Sera and you two are gonna help."
Kiryu: "I do owe you for saving me, but at this point what can I do?"
Date: "The Tojo Clan loses ten billion and the Chairman gets killed. Then I find you at the center of all that commotion. The pieces are starting to move like they were all waiting for Kazuma Kiryu." All this happening around Kiryu's release does seem a little too perfect to be a coincidence. Date took a phone out handing it to Kiryu, "Here take this, these days, even kids have those."
(L/n): "Right, you're used to payphones still huh? Welcome to the modern age buddy." I walk over, looking at the phone, "As long as you got bars up here you can make a call, this is your contact list where you can quickly call someone..."
I show him a few more functions like email, texting, and a snake game built in it in case he got bored. He seemed to get the hang of it quickly and put my number into it as Date smiled.
Date: "Heh, like a son showing his dad how technology works."
(L/n): "Hey, I'm his guide! I'm supposed to make sure he gets all this stuff!"
Date: "No need to get flustered, son, just saying."
(L/n): "Yeah whatever, detective."
Kiryu: "Thank you, both of you."
Date: "No problem, I'm going to look into the ten billion, you look into your girl, Yumi. I'm sure the two are related somehow. I'd say we benefit from cooperating, wouldn't you?"
Kiryu: "I guess so, all right."
Date: "So do you have any leads?"
(L/n): "Was hoping to ask you that but I'll take that as a no."
Kiryu: "I can start by visiting an old friend at a bar called Serena."
(L/n): "The bar across from Stardust, right? Think I saw a sign when we visited it." He gave a nod as I got up and headed to the door, "I'll see if I can't get there then, I'll wait for you before I head inside but I think we'll draw less attention we aren't seen together. I don't doubt the Yakuza already heard the news."
