And so, they walked into Cynthia's office together.
"You know, you look suspiciously like Owen." Cynthia said to Joey, not even turning around as the two entered the office. "Also, if you're wondering how I know Taylor brought you, I had a hunch. If it wasn't you, well, that would've been embarrassing." Cynthia explained.
"Impressive, Cynthia Houston." Joey smirked, causing Taylor to snort a bit.
"I don't recall telling you my full name." She glared at him.
"You didn't." Joey replied. "But you didn't have to." He didn't elaborate, but Cynthia decided that she would question that further later.
"Anyways, you're just here for Taylor. So let's start. Please, take a seat. Tea?" Cynthia offered them.
"I'm good." The teen answered.
"You sure?" The woman behind the desk checked.
"Yes, thank you." Taylor said, trying not to, but smirking a bit.
"Please, I insist."
"Nah."
"Have the tea."
"Nope, but thanks."
"I'm impressed. The tea was poisoned. But it seemed like you knew that, for some reason?" Taylor just shrugged.
"I had a hunch." Taylor smiled, and Joey smirked.
"Well, your name's Taylor. What's your full name?"
"Taylor Elizabeth Spankoffski. Yes, Joey, that's my real last name. Pure coincidence and irony." Taylor said to said man, who had opened his mouth to speak.
"And your birthday and age?" John asked, turning around from where he was looking out the window.
"I'm 13. I was born on October 5th, 2007. It was 2021 where I came from." Taylor was visibly trying to keep her voice steady. New people made them anxious, but that couldn't be shown.
"Okay. Tell me about yourself." Cynthia was trying to be gentler with this teen. Despite what most people thought, she did have a heart.
"Uh, okay, well, I'm a huge fangirl. I love Marvel, Harry Potter, DC, Sherlock, Percy Jackson, Disney, Broadway, and Starkid, which I don't know if you have any of those on this earth. Yes, Joey, I'm a gigantic fan of Starkid. That's part of the reason I freaked out earlier. The other part was my anxiety. I have really bad anxiety, as well as ADD, mild OCD, and, uh, well, I'm somewhat depressed. I-I'm severely allergic to eggs, and I have my epipen in my backpack. I love performing, uh, and I'm writing a show right now, and I'm very excited to perform it when I'm done, when, we get home, and I write fan-fiction. I have a younger brother, and I live in Massachusetts." They explained, being careful to leave some stuff out, but not bringing attention to it. "Oh, uh, I also use she/they pronouns."
"Okay. Do you know any of these people?"
"Uh, Well, Joey, Lauren, Robert, Jeff, and Jon are from my earth, though I don't know any of them personally, I am fans of them, and love their work. They're the reason I'm writing my show, and the reason I started to write music and theater." Taylor explained, smiling at Joey, who grinned back.
"What's your show about?" John asked, mildly intrigued, but mostly just trying to get the kid more comfortable with them.
"Well, it's about two girls who meet each other after one of the girl's parents throw her out because she's gay, and said girl is homeless, but the other girl finds her after being dumped by her girlfriend, and thinks this new girl's kinda cute. Then a virus comes, turning everyone into mindless zombies who are cannabalistic, and consume the souls of the remaining humans, like dementors. Actually, Joey, the entire show is inspired by TGWDLM, Black Friday, and Alice's relationship with Deb. I have like four songs written, but I'm having a bit of trouble with the orchestrations. When I started writing it, I didn't know how to read music, but now I can play piano well enough to be able to write music for it." Taylor explained.
"That's cool! If you show Jeff what you have so far, I know he'd be happy to help with the orchestrations later. Everyone loves you." Joey told her.
"That would be incredible!" Taylor replied. "Any other questions?"
"Yeah. You seemed to know Cynthia earlier. How?" John asked.
"Oh, uh, well, what you were saying about her reminded me of someone from my universe, and I, uh, well I guess I kinda made some inferences about her from what I knew about my friend back home." Taylor sighed in relief, but the two so-called spies didn't pick up on it.
"Well, we're ready for the next person. Joey you can stay if you want." John said. He liked Joey because he looked like Wilbur, but also hated him for the same reason.
"Question; do you have the antidote for that tea?" Taylor asked Cynthia. She smirked.
"Yeah."
"Does that offer still stand? I'm freezing." Taylor took in a shaky breath. She wanted to at least try to get over some of her anxiety while she was in another universe.
"Here you go." Cynthia handed Taylor the tea and the vial of antidote, the teen took another shaky breath, and chugged both.
"Thanks." Taylor offered a small smile, and left the room.
